I am writing this paper on Eric Andre from The Eric Andre Show. I am choosing him because I feel like I relate to his comedy in a lot of ways and he is an interesting person who I would like to do more research on. In this paper I will give a biography, explain the comedian’s style, talk about why I connect with him and finish by talking about my favorite comedic moment of his. Eric Andre was born in Boca Raton, Florida on April 4th, 1983. It purposefully subverts all the viewer’s expectations of how a late night talk show is run and instead goes into all out madness. Other than that, The Eric Andre Show is pretty innovative and unique and has an absurd and rebellious voice that is just beginning to be heard and appreciated amongst younger viewers such as …show more content…
The interview starts off with Rodman walking in with a limp wearing a pink tracksuit with a stained wife-beater underneath (mind you, the guests think they’re gonna be on a professional talk show, Andre doesn’t tell them the show is a joke). Then next as Eric plays a prank on Rodman by falling out of chair, Rodman completely ignores him and starts picking up marbles he finds on the ground of the messy set. After that, Eric grills Rodman about the North Korea stuff he did to which Rodman replies that he doesn’t want to talk about it, it’s the one thing he won’t talk about. Eric responds to that by asking “did he show you prison camps and shit?” to which Rodman immediately breaks his rule and says “No he just showed me his father and his grandfather who’s been frozen in his warehouse”. The interview is so bizarre, it feels like Eric is trying to one up Rodman with weirdness but Rodman just fries back unintentionally every time. Eric asks him if he’s ever had sex with somebody who’s asleep to which Rodman says “Oooooh, yep.” then Eric follows that up with “would you kiss a dead girl and Rodman says “yeah one of my friends died last year and when she did i kissed her on the lips”. Eric clearly trying not to break, asks him “At the funeral?” and Rodman just shakes his

Eric had first met Eva in the Palace Bar during a late November night. As the night had gone on and alcohol had continued to fill up Eric’s blood, he had insisted to take Eva home however Eva refused, “yes, I insisted – it seems. I’m not very clear about it, but afterwards she told me she did not want me to go in but that – well, I was in that state when a chap easily turns nasty – and I threatened to make a row” (51). Dave Barry In society today, people are becoming more and more easily offended. A simple joke is often times blown way out of proportion instead of being laughed off and taken as just that. Dave Barry, a comedic essayist, understands that idea, which is why he uses self-deprecating humor to distract the readers from the fact that he is making fun of them. Along with the use of sarcasm and hyperboles, this form of humor is, at times, relatable and allows him to get certain points across without offending his readers.

The song “Caravan” by Duke Ellington performed by Ella Fitzgerald in this rendition has the lyrics written by Irving Mills. This classic song was released in 1937 but Fitzgerald didn’t complete her rendition until nearly 20 years later in 1957 accompanied by Ellington’s Orchestra in her Duke Ellington songbook album. This is a jazz piece of music with whimsical lyrics and a feeling that invokes an exotic atmosphere. On Ella’s rendition, she adds a big element of a swing sound into the piece and even though she does not need the big orchestra she still knows how to use it. Duke Ellington was born in Washington, D.C on April 29, 1899 to his two musically inclined parents.
