Effective disciplining: Teachers actively induced hard work and discipline in students. Kirti spoke about how her teacher chided her in class for not completing her work as he knew this impacted her. Her teacher instructed her parents on strategies to stay awake during cold winter nights. Thus teachers helped students develop the ability to self-regulate as well as defer gratification until an objective was met. Almost every student spoke about how the teacher had discussed back-up plans if they failed to achieve success in the IIT examination, showing that teachers suggested several strategies for anxiety reduction and control.

Emotional motivates the target audience to care about the central message and overcoming apathy (CITE) and Stories inspires the audience to act on the central message. bell hook’s chapter 14 Pedagogy and Political Commitment: a comment argues educators teaching education for domination should learn to teach education for liberation. Education for domination is based on the style of an authoritarian teaching radical ideology and oppressing other views (CITE).

Michie have put a great amount of effort at trying to get to know his students on a more personal level, such as through individual home visiting and personal questionnaires about each student’s likes and dislikes about school. In order for students to feel that the information is relevant to them, teachers should make connections and relate to real life examples. Michie uses his past classroom experiences to connect to his students and further sparks class discussion. Michie would try to relate to what the students were going through in their lives to get to know them better.
Being in front of this challenge students try to work harder in order to succeed. In the article, Sherry uses pieces of evidence from her personal experience and examples to support her thesis. Also, her article is well-organized, and Sherry uses an academic language. However, Sherry do not consider many aspects that might affect students. She gives to much importance the example that she gives with her son.
Video Response 3 Addressing a student’s needs plays a vital part in the student’s academic success. Understanding one’s needs requires that a teacher take the steps to understanding the child’s personality traits, interests, abilities, disabilities, and so forth. Students are more likely to grasp the interest of learning a specific subject if they feel that the teacher is kind and understanding, just as Trisha and Brittany’s teachers is. Brittany’s mother mentions that a significant change is notable in Brittany’s self-esteem and grades (Kirk, Gallagher, & Coleman, 2015). Trisha certainly associates her good grades to her relationship with her science teacher and identifies her teacher as helpful (Kirk, Gallagher, & Coleman, 2015).
Educational Self-Analysis As students the people who we surround ourselves with have a profound effect with our motivational level. Our surroundings can emotionally impact our life for the better or worse. By reading the article “Brainology” by Carol Dweck has also showed me the mindset I have and reflect on the way I view education. like most Parents, my Parents want to see me succeed in school since they did not have the chance to do so themselves.
Context Motivation is regarded to be an important tool that can be utilized in accomplishing a given task. However, lack of motivation could result in inability to accomplish the task of poor performance. In this regard, it is worth noting that there are various factors that contribute to lack of motivation among individuals. Additionally, while an individual can be motivated at other times, some circumstances can make him or her to lack motivation. This reminds me of the time when we were doing group work that I realized that most of my group members were not motivated to do the assignment.

Schools are the second place after home where students’ behavior and future educational success are shaped. At schools there are many elements or factors that can influence the teaching and learning process that may take place. Rasyid (2012) stated that there are four perennial truths that make the teaching and learning process possible to take place in the classroom. If one of these is not available, there will be no teaching and learning process, though the learning process itself may still take place, they are: (1) Teacher, (2) Students, (3) Material and (4) Context of time and place. All of them are related to one another.
Some students might perform best when they listen and participating in class discussions, and other might be visual persons while others prefer to take down notes. This is why it is imperative for the teachers to engage in knowing the students at the beginning of the school year and as quickly as possible for them to implement the right teaching strategies. Another important factor for the teachers to take into consideration is the parental support and home environment in the student success. Nowadays, teachers try to build a friendly relationship with the students’ parents because they know that sometimes when the student is not performing well is because there are problems at home.
