They only suppress their symptoms. They block the neurotransmitter - dopamine in the brain. This leads to a reduction of symptoms but they can also result in many unwanted side effects as restlessness, rigidity, tremors of the limbs, and involuntary spasms of the tongue, lips and facial

Psychotherapy also helps the patients express themselves; meanwhile the medicine prescribed to these patients will make them quiet, sleepy and sometimes even give them a depression. Long since World War 1 much research has been done into whether mental patients should have medicine or psychotherapy. Most researchers think medicine can take over the job of therapy.

Now, anti-anxiety drugs like Xanax account for half of all overdoses nationwide (Mellor). Xanax abuse is part of whatIt is often called the shadow epidemic, because the general public mainly focuses on drugs like heroin, cocaine and opiods. These drugs were there for multiple purposes in the Vietnam war with both positive and negative side effects for soldiers. These drugs affected these soldiers in the war both mentally and physically. These drugs did help the soldiers by numbing their mind and helping them get through each day and to keep moving forward even when the unimaginable happened. But these drugs would also have negative side effects to the mind and this would mean that the soldiers would feel maybe even more depressed and unhappy once they came down off their high which would mean that they would become more addicted to the drugs because they keep wanting to be on that high. There was also a very high number of drugs in the war as well and they were relatively easy to come by.
Scientific evidence strongly supports the effectiveness of stimulant in managing the symptoms of ADHD, they are recommended as the first choice of medications used in treating children with ADHD.
