Reading is the most important thing an individual should acquire. It is how able you are in pronouncing words in printed texts, but it refers on how you comprehend the words and put meanings to what you have read. (Al Khateeb, 2010). A reading skill can be described as “a cognitive ability in which a person is able to use when interacting the texts”. (Urquhart and Weir).
In addition, reading as a field of teaching is considered one of the important areas of teaching if not actually the most important ever. It is said to be one of the most necessary academic skills

This study seeks to answer the following:
1. What is the relationship between the reading ability of the students and the performance in science subject?
2. How reading ability does affects the performance of students in Science?
3. How does the student’s speed of reading affects its learning in science subjects?

Hypothesis Ho: There is a significant relationship between reading ability and performance of Grade 8 students in science subjects. Hα: There is no significant relationship between reading ability and performance of students in science subject.

Significance of the study The study will be about the reading ability and its relationship to the performance in science subjects among grade 8 students. The result of the study will be beneficial to the following: The Administrator. This study will help them to create program which focuses on the reading ability of the students. The Teachers. The result of the study would help them on improving their teaching strategies. It also serve as a guide in processing the students reading
