Reasonable access to clean water is a basic human right. I believe this because humans need clean water to survive. Anything that we need to survive we should have a right too. What is reasonable access? Reasonable access means that you should be able to get water without going through too much work. Water stress is a problem that can happen anywhere. Water stress is when the demand for water exceeds how much water an area has. So in other words it is the over exploration of water in an area. Water stress can be prevented by having set limits to water coming from a certain place. Water scarcity is the lack of water in one area. This mean it can happen all over the world. The right to water is a social, political and economic issue that needs to be addressed and regulated through effective policies. First Nations’ right to water has been recognized as a significant policy issue in Canada. Canada has failed to effectively address the issue as its policies tend to disregard Aboriginal peoples’ right to safe drinking water. First Nations across Canada have identified the constraint of water and water governance in their communities. Despite living in a developed country, First Nations’ communities do not have access to same clean water as the rest of the Canadian population.

Humans have the right to live. In order to live, we need water. To purposely prevent someone from acquiring it, in any way, is highly unethical, as you are derailing that persons plan to live. Corporations should continue to make bottled water, it takes better than regular water. But when they take the water resources of certain villages or even countries there is a deep social and justice issues that affects everyone in that community.
