Reasons married gay couples should be able to adopt. Adoption has been around for many years but recently gay marriage was legalized and that has risen a dramatic debate on whether gay couples should be able to adopt. There are a lot of orphans in the world and that number is only growing because there are not enough families to take them in. People have many reasons not to adopt children whether it being they can’t afford to provide for them or that they have children of their own or that they just simply just do not want children. There is a solution to help reduce the amount of orphans. Gay adoption. There are now plenty of openly homosexual couples that would love to have children of their own but cannot because it is illegal for them to …show more content…
While some states are becoming more open minded about it other states are sticking with their choice to ban gay adoption. Some states say that it will cause problems with the children that because it isn’t “natural” it could cause physiological problems or that the couples wouldn’t be good parents. Others are against it for religious reasons. One religion that is against gay adoption is the catholic religion, it opposed gay marriage because they say it isn’t healthy for kids to grow up with gay parents. They say that because gay couples either consist of two women or two men that the children are either deprived of a Father if the couple is two women or that if the couple is two men the children are deprived of a mother, what this religion is forgetting is that families usually consists of grandparents’, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and many other people that the kids can be influenced by. With gay couples adopting there could be so many more homes open for these kids and orphans. I’m sure that these foster kids would prefer to live in a loving home with a gay couple rather than being tossed around foster home to foster home. The requirements of being a parent shouldn’t focus on the person’s sexual orientation but their ability to be caring, devoted, and …show more content…
Having good homes in which orphaned children can go to is a good thing for both the kids and the parents. It could possibly lower the number of juvenile delinquents resulting from the horrible things they go through in foster care. Children wouldn’t be negatively effected growing up with homosexual parents. They would more than likely just be happy to have a family. Anyone who has the ability to raise kids and wants to have children but cannot shouldn’t be banned from adopting just because their sexually orientation. Gay adoption becoming legal could be a really good solution to lower the number of kids in foster care that go each year without a loving and caring
Now to the pro side of all of this it is good for the people adopting the kid it gives them a chance to love something that maybe the can 't have or at least giving them a shot at being parents and it will give the kid a second chance to. The kid can bond with them the kid will feel loved and so will the parents no matter who you are you should always feel like someone is there for and thats what these parents are tryna do for these kids “If you have no kids, wait until your foster kids call you Mom and Dad for the first time. It is an awesome feeling and you will never look at life the same. There is no love like that of a child’s where they depend on you for so much.” I feel that this quote/saying is basically understanding the meaning of a new start like how every mother gets to feel that special little sense of love when they hear their baby 's first cry ,and the baby 's first word.
Colson does not mention nor take into account all of the heterosexual couples that leave their child in the car when it’s either freezing or scorching hot out and they die. Nor does Colson mention the number of heterosexual couples who abandon their child in the most despicable ways. It is like the old saying goes, “anyone can be a mother or father, but it takes a real woman or man to be a mommy or daddy”. The number of children in foster care and orphanages is enormous; wouldn’t allowing non-heterosexual couple adopt these children be a
To some, international adoption, to some its just an option but to many future parents it is the only way. Having children is sometimes not in the possibilities for certain couples and people. To have the opportunity to adopt is a way for couples unable to have children to fulfill their wish of becoming parents, and also improving the life of a child. Even though adoption is choice it has created controversy and many aspects of the process are still being debated today. International adoption has been an option since the 1930's around World War II, since then, there are laws enforcing and questioning whether the quality of life of these adoptees truly improves when taken out of their culture and country.
Both authors make connections to how the youth will have to grow up dealing with this modern issue. Sullivan brings up the point that kids or teenagers who identify as homosexual would now have role models to look up to (406). Kids or teenagers would now have “references” instead of being in a world where their feelings are ostracized. Bennett discusses how gay marriage would affect children, but in a negative way. Bennett makes the assertion that education and adoption would be two huge areas which would be negatively changed (411).
600,000 children in the US go through the foster system each year. Those are children who were neglected, abused, or orphaned. The foster care system still has its flaws and many children do fall through the cracks. The number of children in the foster care system could continue to increase if abortion in made illegal in the
Fifty percent of all youth who aged out were involved in substance use and 17% of the females were pregnant (http://ccainstitute.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&id=25&layout=blog&Itemid=43). In the U.S. 397,122 children are living without permanent families in the foster care system. 101,666 of these children are eligible for adoption, but nearly 32% of these children will wait over three years in foster care before being adopted (AFCARS report, No. 20). Pulling a child out of their home to place them in a foster care service with these types of statistics is unsettling. How would any of these findings promote the “best interests of the
While there are a vast number of proponents, the same thing cannot be said for opponents. The first group of people to oppose AB 12 would be the assembly members that voted against the formation of this law back in 2010. Assembly members against the bill believed that there were not sufficient government funds to put towards it. The second group to oppose Assembly Bill 12 are taxpayers. They believe that programs like Adoption Assistance, Transitional Housing Programs, and Kinship Guardian Assistance have been of enough help for foster youth.
Rainbow Kids Adoption and Child Welfare Advocacy says, “Adoption provides these individuals with an opportunity to have a family while staying true to their beliefs” (Ten reasons, 2016). 6. Furthermore, other factors, such as wanting to provide a good life to a child in need, wanting to choose the sex of their child, or wanting to skip the newborn stage can be achieved through adoption (Ten reasons, 2016). [Transition Now that we understand what adoption is and why many choose this method, let’s discuss the actual process.] II.
While this does sound like a good idea on paper, recent studies have shown that even if they are getting a new life with a new family, they may not live such a healthy life during or even after they entered foster care. In the United States, over 400,00 children are in the foster care system for a better living (4). Of these 400,000 children, 46 percent of them are living
I) Introduction – The Foster Care system and Homosexual’s being able to adopt both show through research to provide many benefits to a child in need. Although neither seems to be the best option, people seem to have rooted for one more than the other due to sexual orientation, but what for? Doesn’t both foster care and homosexual adoption provide love and care for children or is one more suitable for children than the other? Through personal research it seems as if Homosexual’s adopting children is just as good as a child remaining in the Foster Care system (Claim). II)
Homosexuality is becoming more and more accepted and integrated into today’s society, however, when it comes to homosexuals establishing families, a problem is posed. In most states, homosexuals can adopt children like any other married or single adult. There are many arguments to this controversial topic; some people believe that it should be legal nationally, while others would prefer that is was banned everywhere, or at least in their individual states. There are logical reasons to allow gays to adopt children, but for some, these reasons are not enough. The main issue really is, what is in the best interest of the child?
In today’s modern society it’s now considered acceptable to be a homosexual. It’s now safe to say that today society attitude towards same-sex couples are no longer at the point where they need to feel ashamed of who they have a sexual preference for. Now they should feel like they don’t need to keep it in the closet as they were. Yet, people still in disagreement that they should be able to adopt, even though they don’t have a problem with them being together. Is it homophobic to say that gays shouldn’t be able to adopt children?
Single parent adoption In today's society, one of the strongest controversy in the world today is over whether or not single parents should be allowed to adopt. Some believe it is socially acceptable for a single parent to adopt a child and that “single prospective adopters of both genders can have much to offer to an adopted child” (The Telegraph Tim Ross), others think that singles should not be able to adopt. In some eyes they see that a child needs two parents so a child can grow up having a mother and father figure to look up to, and by having two parents, one can fill in the other part when one is sick or tired or so on.
Is it really that disgusting to see a family made up of two dads and a little girl? Those who are opposed to same sex adoption do and believe the child will be influenced by their adoptive parents sexual orientation. However, states like Maryland, have passed laws to make same sex adoption possible realizing good parenting is not defined by your sexual orientation, same sex couples raise emotionally intelligent children, and thousands are hoping to one day be part of a family. How and with who you prefer to have coitus with has no correlation with the quality of your parenting.
Same sex couples who are unable to have biological children of their own, but what a family, attempt to adopt and are turned down due to many bogus reasons. Same sex couples should be able to adopt children because a loving and willing family is a family no matter what, sexual orientation is not a valid draw back, and equality is for all,
