In the summer I always want to go visit my aunt so she can tell me stories about when she lived in Spain. She had to come to the United States when she was really young but, from what she remembers it sounds like an astonishing place to visit. She lived in the urban part of Madrid. Her family farmed grapes and sold them to wineries. She wants go back soon but she has a young baby that could not last a hole day one a plain. I remember her telling me about how different americans customs are, the buzzar animals, and all her favorite sites in Madrid. One place I want to visit is Spain. To begin, the customs in Spain are very intriguing. One example is running of the bulls. Running of the bulls started in the early fourteenth century. This is where people run in front of bulls and then latter one the bulls will be put in an arena and people with stab the bull and eventually kill it. I am a very athletic and competitive person so to see people …show more content…
In Madrid, Spain there is the Prado Museum. It is a huge art gallery with thousands of famous paintings. One of my favorite paintings is in the museum, las Meninas. This is my favorite painting because no one can figure it out. Everytime I look at it I find something new that changes my perspective. Another place I would like to visit in Madrid is the Royal Palace. All the royal family lives there and it has lots of historic artifacts in it. It is so beautiful with all the statues and even complex architecture of the palace. Also I would like to visit Plaza Mayor. Plaza Mayor is a big “u” shaped building that has tons of apartments. It is what is one the first floor that interest me though. There is shops and authentic foods. In America are spanish food is not even close to the real food in Spain. In the Plaza Mayor they have the food that goes way back to when they first became a country. Madrid, Spain has lots of cultural items that if I went to Spain I would have to go
Trespass by Julia Alvarez is a short story that depicts the life of a young immigrant girl whose family has relocated from the Dominican Republic to New Jersey and the many emotions, trials, and tribulations that come with such a massive change. The oldest of four girls, Carla, seems to have the hardest time adapting to this new environment and circumstance. When their mother makes a typical Spanish dessert and inserts a candle to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the move to the States, she says, "Let us please go back home, please, She half prayed and half wished" (Alvarez 99). Aside from the anguish of leaving her extended family and the challenges of adjusting to a new neighborhood, school, and country, she has the strongest ties to the Dominican Republic and the most difficulty assimilating to English and American culture.
“wow!” I thought as I stood amazed trying to analyze the significance through each piece of art. Art has always been a form of expression. Although art has been seen as a way of freedom of speech; it did not begin to show up until the 1960’s when their art made by minorities started to be appreciated. MOLAA museum shows an important aspect of U.S. history.

Much of modern society that exists today was shaped by the changes and development of Europe from the early 15th century to the 18th century. The Age of Exploration, starting in the early 1400s, marked the beginning of the period during which the European economy shifted from the Mediterranean sea to the Atlantic Ocean. The basis for this shift was an increasing desire for a cheaper and quicker way of obtaining goods from Asia and Africa. While trying to find a quicker route to Asia explorers discovered the Americas. Capitalizing on the potential of the new discovery, Spain quickly set up colonies.
For some people it's just fun. But for me It's a lifestyle. People ask what is it? It's the sport rodeo. For those who don't known what rodeo is, rodeo is an exhibition or contest in which cowboys show their skill at riding broncs, roping calves and other activities.
One cause for European exploration was their desire for wealth. Europeans were looking for new materials and to trade with new civilizations. Another cause for European exploration was to spread Christianity throughout the world. Europeans also wanted to expand their country by finding undiscovered land. This caused conflict between European countries.
The primary users of this study are the Hispanic students, even though the population is small. According to http://www.city-data.com/neighborhood/Baring-Philadelphia-PA.html, there are 0.6% of Hispanics that do not speak English in the school. 57.7 % of the families in this community are below the poverty level. Majority of the parents in that community have little education themselves. There are only 0.3 % Hispanic students attending the school, so there won’t be much of a need for specific cultural information on Spain.
It may seem odd to start off with such a specific point, but it’s true. Located in one of the more touristy sections of Old Town, the city’s first populated area, Casa de Reyes checks out for all the cliché Mexican restaurant necessities: servers dressed
When the situation happened her so called best friend wasn’t sitting with her no more because of what was going on. Now “mericans” by Sandra Cisneros is a short story about a young girl who is narrating the story, it is about a time in her life, when she is caught between the old world (Mexico) and the new world (America). It starts out with the girl telling about her grandmother, nicknamed the awful grandmother, praying in church. The girl and her brothers are stuck outside the church, waiting for their grandmother, they aren’t allowed to walk to the plaza, where there are balloons, comic books, and other fun things.
Many people could be found in attendance at these violent events. These are also known as the Blood Sports. This includes the violent game of bearbaiting, in which a bear was chained to a stake in an open space and four or five large dogs (sometimes lions) were released

Who is Cecilia Gallegos? Cecilia Gallegos is a little too complex to describe in a mere essay, I’ve been pondering this question for years but the answer is simple, I am Cecilia Gallegos. I was born one cold late night of the last year of the 20th Century, I was 3 minutes from being named after my Grandma Ramona almost being born on her birthday, luckily I was born at 11:57 pm and was named Cecilia instead. I am the youngest of 5 parented by Jose and Cecilia, three sisters and one brother. Enough about my family, this essay is an autobiography and it is all about me.
The Oakland Museum of California is a remarkable place to experience art in a museum for the first. It is a small museum but, it has so much to offer. It includes an Art gallery, History gallery and a Natural Science gallery. Walking up to the entrance of the museum, I noticed the museum is small but it had a sense of space surrounding it. The exterior had little decorations and the building has a simple but very geometric shape.
The “Mona Lisa” is the best known and most visited piece of art. It is a portrait painting done by Leonardo de Vinci. The portrait is an oil painting on a white Lombardy poplar panel. The woman in the portrait is sat upright in an armchair, with her arms folded. This painting was one of the first portraits that depicted the sitter in front of an imaginary landscape.
