There are so many rare and important species of flora and fauna in the Daintree Rainforest. Even the small shrubs, to ginormous Red Cedar trees, every single plant is important to the Rainforest. We need to stop anymore extinction of plants and animal species, so that we can keep them for generations to generations. Although people are logging for our modern benefits, the amount of trees being cut should tremendously be decreased. So to keep making paper, people should recycle more. Global warming also have terrible impacts on the Daintree Rainforest. This causes climate change which then kills the Rainforest plants and animals.
2015: A promising year, full of opportunities, though less than 3 months away from coming to a close. Not more than 100 years ago, things were not the same as they exist now. Major problems were faced in eras such as the Progressive Era. Such problems that people faced back then were women’s suffrage, child labor, and deforestation. If I was born in the generation where I had where to choose where to place $1,000,000 to certain cause, I would give it to the three things I have stated.
Pandas and grizzlies live in similar, but different habitats. Giant pandas live in mixed broadleaf and forests between elevations of 4,000 and 13,000 feet. These temperate forests are either enveloped by mist or subject to downpours most of the year. Grizzly bears are found
Many, many animals are going endangered and even extinct because of human caused climate changing. One of those notable examples is the polar bears, which only have a population of 20,000-25,000. The reason polar bears are going extinct is because warmer temperatures in the north is causing the ice caps to melt more, and in the summer, polar bears use the ice caps to travel to get food after hibernating. But if the ice caps melt too much and break away, then polar bears
China’s early-developed civilization occurred with barely any contact with other early civilizations of Eurasia. The reasons for this isolation were clear, the geographic regions made it difficult for communication between the Middle East and East Asia. Another cause of their isolation was the high mountains and the vast amount of desserts. Due to Chinas isolation, it has helped the country further improve and succeed in certain aspects.
Amur Leopard is critically endangered because it’s hunted illegally for its beautiful fur. Their population is estimated to be about sixty individuals, they live about ten to fifteen years in the wild and twenty in captivity. People are trying to save the animal from extinction by monitoring populations, protecting their habitats, and trying to stop poaching and trade.
William Shakespeare once said, “Wisely, and slow. They stumble that run fast.”, and the sloth sure can't run fast. Well, actually sloths can’t run at all. Both the two and three toed sloths can’t run at all but, there are still many other similarities and differences between the two and three toed sloth.
The Saola lives in the forests of South Asia’s Annamite Mountains that are located on the border between Vietnam and Laos. They use to live at the base of the mountain but they have been pushed farther up the mountains due to greater settlements by humans. The Saola is most commonly found in dense, evergreen forests that have a good source of running water. During the summer months they migrate further up the alpine slopes, venturing down during the winter when the water sources higher up have run dry and there is therefore also less to eat. The Saola share their habitat with Tigers and crocodiles which ironically enough are their biggest enemies. The Saola are herd animals that tend to be in groups/herds no larger than 7 animals. The
I’ll start off with the elephants. Elephant tusks are made out of ivory which is used for several things in China. People use the elephants tusks to make jewelry, and ornaments. China is a big consumer of elephant tusks. They banned this illegal poaching and let some of the elephant populations grow back. But some people still poached these animals which kept them in the endangered list. These animals have a protection program which bans people from poaching these animals.
The Kermode Bear is a different kind of black bear because it has a gene that normal black bears don’t have. This bear was mentioned in a book called Touching Spirit Bear.
The lecturer and the reading passage offer two theories to explain why the sea otter population is in rapid decline. The two theories are predation theory and pollution theory.
Animals and plants become at risk for extinction, or endangerment, when environments and ecosystems are changed by human activities or other natural causes (Wright & Boorse, 2014). Regrettably, human activity is usually the source of environmental change and endangerment to a species through pollution, over-consumption, and in some regions of the world, over-population (Wright & Boorse, 2014). Also attributable to the destruction of a species, are the human activities that result in habitat loss and the introduction of an exotic species into foreign ecosystems (Wright & Boorse, 2014). Human activity is not solely to blame, as each species also has natural predators; however, habitat loss, relating to economic development, appears to be the
This is very abrupt since Red Pandas are protected in China, India, Bhutan, and Nepal. They are victim to habitat loss from deforestation or humans’ clear-cutting of their nature ecosystem. You’d think that we would stop clear-cutting their ecosystem after we learnt that they are endangered, however their natural ecosystem is still diminishing as more of their ecosystem is lost to logging and to the ecosystems’ alteration to agroecosystems. Habitat loss and fragmentation are causing the loss of red panda nesting trees and bamboo that the red panda consumes. Logging and other forms of ecosystem damages have caused a disruption or disturbance in the equilibrium of the ecosystem and have given an advantage to the seasonal monsoon; allowing it to hurl rich soil down mountainsides. They are also poached for their unique and distinctive fur in China and Myanmar. Red panda fur caps have been found in many stores all over Southern Asia. Bamboo populations have decreased dramatically with changes in global temperature. Thankfully for the red panda, bamboo still flourish in Southern Asia. Red pandas also often get caught in traps meant for other animals such as wild pigs and deer, when they are caught they
Species that live in places where deforestation occurs are victims of the negative effects it has on the environment (TS). According to The World Counts, “70% of our world’s plant and animal species live in forests,” and when deforestation happens, animals lose their habitats. When animals lose their habitat (Anadiplosis), they are not accustomed to their new surroundings and could potentially go extinct. Species depend on forests to survive and when the forests are cut down, the animals have nothing left.
Why are different species becoming extinct? Do researchers know how many innocent animals are killed each year? When will animals be protected in a comfortable habitat? In man-made environments, such as zoos and other nature parks, animals that are born in the wild are protected and well taken care of. Due to animals running around in the wild, scientists and researchers can track the amount of animals being killed everyday. This usually causes extinction within that species, and researchers have decided to do something about it. Although endangered animals are born in the wild, they should be sheltered and protected in nature parks because it helps decrease the amount of extinctions, allows a better and healthier environment, and the animals are protected from predators and human hunters.
