Human trafficking is a global problem. Member states of the TIP renewed their commitment to fight against human trafficking, which has experienced a rise since globalization. Human trafficking, especially of women and children, is the second most illegally traded item in the world, and the UN estimates trafficking to be one of the top three sources of profit for organized crime. Every form of human trafficking is a violation of human rights, according to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement unit of the U.S. government, whether through transportation or provision, through forced labour, obtaining a person, or sex trafficking. The fact that there is human trafficking, has consequences such as generating additional medical cost and therefore affecting the Obama health care reform. Victims of human trafficking, such as abused and violated women who have been “rescued” from the sex trafficking industry, thereby sexual exploitation or forced prostitution, they often have significant medical and behavioral health care problems; Obamacare represents a very valuable resource for them.
Furthermore state courts that regularly have contact with victims of human trafficking, play a unique role, since they assist victims in getting access to the benefits of the Affordable Care Act, thereby Obamacare. Therefore, these violated adults and children, mainly women, who get their domestic human rights violated are becoming a burden for society.
