From an early age, I have been able to learn the qualities that characterize leaders, entrepreneurs and successful people. I’ve seen how patience, perseverance, integrity, courage and the capacity for vision and decision become gradually shaped in the personality of one who starts out as a simple "creative" or "dreamer" and ends up as a leader from a country, a company or group. The key can be found in the effort put into achieve a proposed goal.
During my school and also University years, I was always attracted to being the leader of the project teams. Moreover, my classmates used to constantly select me as the leader of the group before starting a new assignment. Particularly, one of the skills that I have developed and which I consider is one of the reasons why my teammates felt confident and comfortable having me as a leader is the fluid communication I maintained with them.
Secondly, another dexterity I have is the power of motivating others and making them know that we can always 'push harder '. Nonetheless, I try to practice flexibility because I have learned that nothing comes out as planned. Equally important, experience has taught me to adapting to change since the only constant in life is change.
Additionally, another skill that I have developed thanks to good communication is to delegate the tasks correctly, which is something that must be done with conscience and respect.
Presently, I’ve been able to put in practice all these skills while adding a few more
Representing Flanagan High School at the HOBY State Leadership Seminar for Outstanding Sophomores would be a great honor. I believe that representing Flanagan would be an amazing opportunity to meet other driven sophomores like myself. I also hope that I would learn new ways to become a better leader, and student, who juggles many other responsibilities. B) There are so many challenges that must be faced when you want to be successful.
I consecutively display leadership skills daily in practice and while performing. For example, when one of my teammates is struggling or not grasping the concept, I take it into my hands to work with them vigorously until they achieve their full potential. In like manner, I motivate my cheer sisters when they are down and reassure the team, as a whole, to walk in the spirit of excellence. To include, I feel that a leader is not someone who stands in front and dictates their group, but rather stands right next to their followers and goes through the battles with them. Additionally, I exemplify a respectful young lady in and out of uniform because I have noticed the little girls idolizing me and mimicking every move I make.
In my business class, I was given the opportunity to create a business involving 4 different sectors. In a similar manner, being the team leader during this project, I integrated the best factors from the ideas of my peers and teacher and established what would be most profitable. With my experience growing up in two different cultures, I am able to decide what qualities and factors are best for each situation and act upon it. In the future I hope to be able to possess the right qualities to be a team leader that is open to new ideas and thoughts, to fully optimize each opportunity given to
My time in 4-H, working, volunteering, and my first semester of college have provided me with leadership opportunities and experiences that were often challenging. In order to cope with these challenges, I had to develop skills that would allow me to move forward. The first of which is the ability to work well on a team. This skill is one that I’ve had to practice in many environments such as completing a group project, playing softball, working in food service, and volunteering as a camp counselor.
I know the importance of communication and these communication skills can be translated in everyday life because when working with others everyone needs to communicate to ensure every task is being completed successfully. I have learned how to cooperate with a diverse group of people, no matter the circumstance. This has equipped me for life inside and outside ringette as I know how to be professional and civil with everyone that I encounter. In line with this, I have learned how to keep calm and controlled in frustrating situations. Self-discipline and good sportsmanship can be very beneficial to ensure one stays classy without showing weakness to others.
I have developed leadership qualities when my Tae Kwon Do coach trusted me to lead our team during national championships. This has led me to then hold various leadership positions in undergraduate and dental school clubs. Moreover, my critical thinking abilities have excelled from being a mathematics and physics tutor. Tutoring has always challenged me to think outside the box in complicated problems, and this would allow me to use my creative skills when facing complex cases in my field. Persistence is another key element that is crucial in success.
In the course of the year, due to the Peer Leadership program, I feel much more motivated. At the beginning, I was insecure and unable to carry out the responsibilities successfully. Many times I found myself out of place and expressing myself was a challenge since I did not feel confident. But I have been able to feel part of a group for the first time in a class at school. I can share with other peers and unwind more easily in front of them and out of class as well.

Leaders come in many different shapes and forms. Some leaders only care about the business and task at hand, some leaders care too much for their employees, and other leaders have a great mix of both worlds; those are the types of leaders to have in every company. Leaders need to be fully invested not only in the business to succeed, but they need to make sure their employees are taken care of just as well as the company. Within this paper will discuss the reasons that leaders need to be involved not only within the business, but with the employees too. Theodore Roosevelt described how a caring leader should be in the workforce.
A good leader inspires his team with good ethics, encouragement, trust, commitment and overall sense of wellbeing. Leading by example is in fact a reality. I have acquired the essential skill of appreciating and understanding different perspectives. There are a couple ways to acquire this essential skill. For example, having to put yourself in other people's shoes, being able to argue the other person's perspective, suspending your judgement and opening your mind to receive the whole perspective, as well as responding and reacting to evaluation ethically. I believe I have acquired this essential skill by displaying some of the characteristics that I have listed above. I have demonstrated this skill numerous time in the ROTC program at Perris High School.

Nice discussion post this week! You start off with a great definition of what leadership is. To me, it is hard to define what leadership is, especially in one sentence, but I agree with you that leadership is the action of leading others or an organization. I feel like it is when someone steps up and goes into the unknown as well. It is also important to mention that it is never just one single person.
