While scanning your paper, it is important for you as a writer to keep your eyes out for critical information, the meaning, and who your audience may be. While editing a draft an individual should do a quick scan then eventually analyze word by word.

Writing has always been an issue but yet interesting subject of mine. As hard as I try and write essays, and papers I just can’t get the hang of writing. But after taking this class, I did learn different writing technique and improved my writing proficiency, material body of formatting, and how to uncovering and properly use sources. Through class exams, essays, and a research paper, I was able to learn new writing skills. Although I have learned a variety of things, my writing still needs improvement.
And I have decided to start using a flow chart to organize my ideas in help me stay on topic so that I don't stray and get writers block. When I thought about my essay I realized I never truly revised my essays, I just cleaned it up a little then turned it in. Making sure there is minimal grammar errors is important, because it will make it easier for the readers to understand the essay, just like the sentence and thesis errors. When I would review my drafts for each essay, I started to look harder for these errors with each essay as the class progressed. I started to find more and more errors that I know I would not have found in the beginning of this class. There is an article that helped me learn to truly revise my essays, the title is, “Revision Strategies of Student Writers”, it is by Nancy Sommers.
I have learned so much about writing in the last few months. I have gained confidence in my writing because of the many peer reviews and working drafts. One of my goals is to never settle for “okay”, to keep striving to be better. Once I am happy with how I did in something, I tend to become complacent. I do not want that to happen in my essays.
That’s why when it was time for my two documented essays I thought about some of the things I have learned from my writing journals and I read the peer reviews to have a better understanding on how to make my paper better. Once the time came Alex had to prove that all of her training paid off. For me that day was the day our Capstone essays were due. Our capstone essay is the essay that we think is our very best and we put everything that we have learned into our last paper. In the end Alex proved she was innocent and found out who the real criminal was.
