Every person, no matter who they are, has, at one point in their life, wanted their name to be remembered. I have grown up wondering what will be the thing that makes people remember my name. When I was younger, I dreamed of being a professional football player, then I wanted to be a war hero, and now I am uncertain of what I want to be. All that Achilles, one of the main characters in Troy, lives for is to have his name remembered for thousands of years. This idea, of having your name remembered, is talked about in numerous scenes throughout the movie and is encouraging to all people that want to be remembered for ages. The movie Troy is inspired by Homer’s “The Iliad” and is full of romance, action, and greed. The movie recounts the legend of the Trojan War. In it, the Greeks, led by Menelaus of Sparta and Agamemnon of Mycenae, battle with the Trojans to obtain Menelaus’s cherished love. The movie is full of important characters. In it, the Greeks sail across the Aegean Sea to the beaches of Troy to retrieve Helen of Sparta. The Greeks have no chance of defeating the Trojans if they stay in their guarded city, which is behind a massive wall. The only way to defeat the Trojans is to get them outside of the city walls or to somehow get into the city. As legend has it, the Greeks choose the latter. They deceive the Trojans into believing they have sailed back to Greece and leave them a peace offering, a large Trojan horse. Inside the wooden horse, hides Achilles with a small group of Greek warriors. The Trojans, wanting to offer this horse to the gods, bring the horse through their great walls and into the city. Then they celebrate the victory with hours of drinking and feasting. At night, all of Troy is in a deep sleep. Aware of this, the Greek warriors sneak out of the horse and kill the soldiers guarding the front gate. Achilles and his men open the gate to the armies of Greece which burn Troy to the
