For community service, I have helped out with Sunday School and Vacation Bible at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hicksville, New York. I not only help out with my church, but I have helped out with Big/Little Sisters at my school. Also I helped out with three library events that helped our community this past summer.
I am involved at my church in helping with Sunday School at Trinity Lutheran in Hicksville, since I was in sixth grade. There I do many things for an hour. I help children learn the bible. I help the teacher watch the students, look up bible passages, and take them to the bathroom. This has taught me how to be a teacher and help children. This shapes the way I learn about children, prepare to become a teacher, and learn how to strengthen

As mentioned previously, faith is a huge part of my life. I attend church every week, and I help out with Sunday School, where I help children look up bible passages. I not only do that, but I help hand out papers as well. Also, in the summer, I help out with Vacation Bible School, where I help supervise the children’s activities. I also bring them to the restroom, distribute papers, and take attendance. At Vacation Bible School I help tell the parents if their child got hurt, hand out papers or hand the parents the students’ papers if they are carrying too much. This betters our community because if we are friendly, help people, and act kind, parents will be more likely to send their children to Sunday School or Vacation Bible School, and this helps the church to gain people to follow Jesus. Jesus doesn’t want us to force people however, it helps my church when we help and treat people with kindness, consequently getting one more person to come to church which makes God and Jesus
I plan on volunteering for many different organizations, that I am both currently working with, and plan to. For example, I participate in volunteer events for Special Olympic games, The Everett Theater, and St. Joseph’s Parish. By helping
I have volunteered at the Catholic Worker House preparing and serving food. I have also served food at the Salvation Army. I have volunteered at the Cedar Valley United Way, helping them with stuff around the office. Outside of school service I help my grandma, who has had a stroke. I'm always there to help her clean and get around the house.
The role of faith in people’s personal journey can be seen as multifaceted. Ultimately, it depends on what one chooses to put faith into. If we are being honest, growing up, faith was not a big part of my home life. My family is Catholic, and I was baptized Catholic- but outside of that, we never practiced our faith.
I volunteered through an organization called Feeding Many. As a volunteer, we planted community gardens where the food produced is donated for those struggling to afford their daily needs. In preparation for joining the NHS, I was an active member of the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) and accrued over 70 hours of volunteer time during my tenure. As a middle school student I volunteered as a leader for WEB (Where Everybody Belongs). WEB is a program that assigns a responsible leader/mentor for a group of incoming sixth graders to help them acclimate to their first year of middle school.
Volunteering time at church and school have become a major part of what I do. The youth group I belong to at St. Thomas UCC collects items and put together hygiene bags for the YWCA. For school, I often volunteer to help with the bands, working in the kitchen for Indoor Drumline shows and helping to set up the Craft Show. I also assist my classmates if they request it. If a student is absent, I will take responsibility to send them notes they may have missed in class, and also what they homework is so they can attempt to do it.
In fact, I have been performing community service since I was very young. In middle school, I was inducted into the National Junior Honor Society, I made my service project the donation of snacks, toiletries, and other items purchased in grocery stores. I would collect supplies, packaged them, and ship them to Marines stationed overseas. This NJHS community service project was inspired by my membership in the Young
I helped my community by organizing and managing my church's blessing box since it supplies my community food and other resources to people that are as not as fortunate. Finally, I helped my community by assisting with the Reading High School Alumni Yearly Banquet since it allowed the alumni to improve the core health of the community since they play a major part in my community in various ways. I also plan to do more community service to assist all of the different communities I am a part of, doing this will also help me
I love volunteering because even though you don't get money for helping someone, you get the joy and happiness of knowing you did something good for someone else. Being a member of Key Club and Junior Optimist I have the opportunity to volunteer frequently in the community and to the school. I have volunteered to work in various booths at the Glandorf Park Fest. I helped work at the YMCA Trunk or Treat to pass out candy to the little kids on Halloween. A group of my friends went over to Kalida to help with the Triathlon.
That was possibly my first ever type of community service. Now that I’m in high school I’ve moved onto bigger and more impactful services. I volunteer at a local bodega in my community. It may not seem like much but trust me, it is. I work at the bodega as a cashier and I work receiving no compensation.
In the past I have helped my local Catholic Church. I did many hours of community service serving out dinner to Catholics, helping set up games for the youth, helping set up and clean up yard sales, and helping anyone in need of assistance. Currently I try to help students around me with homework, notes, and helping them understand a specific subject more. In the future I would love to donate to as much charities as I can. As I would have a stable job, I would be able to help those who are less fortunate by donating.
One thing I always try to do is volunteer in my church when they need help, which often times takes many forms. Sometimes I will serve coffee before church or watch children in the nursery. Other times I serve or prepare meals for college students to eat after third service. Occassionally, we will have cookie sign ups where you make a couple dozen cookies and then deliver them to new families in our church As I see the example of those older than me, I try to recreate that for those younger than
One of the many actions that keep our nation going, that is often overlooked, is community service. Often times community service is required in school and in jobs encouraging people to be excited to help out. Other times, people
“The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation’s premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students,” as reported by nhs.us. I am truly honored to be part of this organization, as are some of my classmates. Although there are many requirements when determining who is chosen for NHS and who isn’t, the main requirements are academics, character, leadership, and service. I personally believe I fulfill all of those requirements. One of my top priorities throughout high school is to earn good grades, which can be difficult when I’m involved in many things.
Assignment #2 - What does service mean to me? This is a concept that I have been considering in great detail. I have always loved doing community service and giving back to the community. However, I never thought of what my life would be like without community service. The definition of service based on the Oxford dictionary: "The action of helping or doing work for someone.
Community service does not only have a profound impact on our community, but the impact it has on the individual people is even greater. The concept of community service has always been something that I grew up with, and now that I am older I better understand how important community service is for society. I have participated in community service activities. Starting in elementary school, I helped feed the homeless and rescue animals. Even with my wide range of volunteer experience, it was difficult to find an activity that would be meaningful and fulfill my thirty-hour obligation for my senior project.
