This was a challenging topic for me, because I am faced with conflict every day at work and with internal relationships. However a recent conflict I was in that was very memorable would have to be a few months ago when we had a new hire join our team and she was extremely difficult to understand. She was much older than the rest of the crew and was very particular with her needs. On her second day here she had a sub trainer; this person was a friend of mine. The new hire Mary for some reason did not like the Sub trainer, Rob, and told me that she thinks he is drunk at work. This was at about noon, and I knew there was no way someone could still be drunk at work unless they were out drinking until 8am. My manager was away from the office for …show more content…
The best way at that time was to stall Rob and Mary from having any sort of interaction. And because I know my manager trusts my decisions. I knew it was okay for me to send them both to lunch. It created a chaotic environment and the only way to dissolve it was to think about the outcomes and come up with solution that would best not get anyone in trouble. Rob was not intoxicated and there was no need to call HR to see how to handle this situation. I did not agree with my manager’s initial decision and fought for him to think about the situation and not take it at face value. That he needed to talk to each individual separately and see if there needs to be HR involved. I am glad that Chris listened to my suggestion and sent Rob home. I think that was the best decision. I think had I not had the ability to make decisions and stick to it, it would have been a very chaotic environment for everyone. This is also because my manager always lets me make decisions and if I make mistakes he will pull me aside and discuss later. Knowing that he trusts me allowed me to take on leadership role in this
He stated proper maintenance of the floor and proper supervision. Once employees noticed she continued to cry she should have been sent to the
She then stood at the Booking Desk and refused to go into Detox due to them being in there. After ordering her multiple times to enter Detox she finally complied, after we were about to use force to drag her into Detox. Shortly thereafter, I returned to Detox and removed all inmates except for inmates Ellery and Roskey and placed them in the gym. While in Detox both Roskey and Ellery constantly waved at the cameras and kicked the cell door causing a disturbance within the jail. I decided it would be best to split up the two, so I moved Roskey to Cell Block 2.
It’s most definitely challenging working with mental health inmates and they require a lot of assistance, but if something was going on to cause harm to Ashley then this Officer should of called for back up to enter the cell. Specific intervention that should of taken place was that the Officer should called for back up, instead of using inappropriate behaviour in front of Ashley. That wasn’t the appropriate way to handle the situation especially involving someone who is at harm of either themselves or surrounding
Conflict has been around since the beginning of time: Satan tempting Adam and Eve, the Pharaoh and his enslavement of the Israelites, events such as World Wars 1 and 2, et cetera. Creating a conflict is the easy part. Realizing there is a conflict and finding a way to compromise is often the hard part. Unfair working conditions and inequality at Kohler factories in Wisconsin led to the conflict of the 1934 Kohler Strike. This resulted in the compromise of better working conditions.
The aide did her job, addressed a possible issue to her administrator, and followed rules set by that administrator. Herman suffered the most. He was lonely, sad, and felt unsafe. He was a war veteran and an elderly man. Although not positive, he could have had PTSD and depression, which could have been evaluated and assessed if it had been acted upon.
It was a stressful day, not just for him, but also for everyone. But I think that the way he acted really showed his lack of professionalism and also a lack of leadership skills. After the incident I talked to some of the other employees and learned that the owner had done similar things before. I believe that has a owner of a business and as a leader, you should never insult, degrade, or physically harm your employees. For one, it doesn’t make you look good, especially when most of your employees are high school students.
First lets look at some of the types people can face. People face many conflicts but one of the bigger ones include relationships. These are conflicts with family, friends, or boyfriends/girlfriends. Relationship problems often occur by miscommunication or disagreements about something. Another type of conflict could be values.
In addition to this the manager was given the ability to make a team of individuals. Wit that she promoted many of her friends within the business, this has now resulted in a toxic working environment. This toxic behavior has blurred the lines of what is ethical and favoritism. The interesting fact
How to Best Respond to Conflict From the time humans were created, there has always been conflict between us. We all can choose for ourselves how we respond to conflict, and people do this in many different ways. One of the best ways to do this is by keeping a courageous and positive outlook on the situation. This method of responding to conflict is used by many today. Although some might not agree that this is the best way to respond to conflict, there are many examples why this is true, and there are also a lot of experiences of real people who proved or still prove that this is the best way to respond to conflict.
Theoretical Framework: Conflict Perspective: Conflict perspective focuses their attention on society as a whole. Conflict theorists see society as in a continuous sate of conflict between groups and classes. Society is held together through the power of dominant groups or classes. The shared values, which functionalist see as glue for holding society together, do no realty form rue consensus; instead this is an artificial consensus in which the dominant groups or classes impose their values and rules upon rest of the people.

This report is going to discuss an interpersonal conflict I encountered. In this paper, there is a brief description of the conflict followed by an analysis on the causes and reflections. Conflict description The conflict took place in the school general office when I was submitting a document. When the office called to remind me that a document was needed.
Mediation is a form of alternative dispute resolution in which a neutral third party helps disputants resolve a conflict (Bishop, p. 64). The employee/supervisor mediation was my first experience role-playing as a mediator in a dispute. I enjoyed the experience and recognized how significant the role of a mediator was. There are many strategies/avenues a mediator can take when conducting a mediation and it is imperative that the mediator is able to adapt their mediation strategy in order to satisfy the party’s needs. This in-class role-play gave me the opportunity to apply all the knowledge that I learned during the course, to a real workplace scenario.
8. Deal with conflict that may arise and appropriate conflict resolution approaches. Conflict can arise within the workplace usually over a difference in opinion. Some of the best approaches to resolve conflict would be to talk to the other, focus on behaviour and events, not on personalities and to listen carefully. There was no conflict in our team.
Conflict resolution happens often in the workplace that can either drive or disturb employees, supervisors, a team, and an entire organization. When supervisors allow conflict resolution to fester without taking immediate action, it can lead the organization into an unhealthy environment. In this paper, the topic for discussion will analyze various strategies that can be utilized to control and manage conflict resolution in the workplace, and the role of the supervisor during conflict resolution situations. In addition, a discussion will include how the workplace and its customers are impacted by a diverse workforce.
