Ethics, values and morals defines who we are, how we treat others and our input to the world. I believe that an ethical human being should care for people, be empathetic to human suffering wherever it was happening, and try to contribute to the development of humanity whether on the micro or the macro level. On the other hand we live in a world where materialism prevails, and the right thing to do is most often determined by what can bring the most benefit, power, money…etc, which is evident by the wars we see happening all the time, corporations outsourcing to exploint cheap undermined labor or using resources or authoritative regimes getting support from global powers. …show more content…

As I watched people around me pay ridiculous amounts for dining out, clothes, or gadgets, I wondered why they would have a blank face or no response at all , when I ask them to think about contributing to less fortunate people that need support in their education. I wondered why would they blame the poor for being poor, how couldn’t they realize that the system is unjust, that a lot of them do not have the opportunities and circumstances to be able to lift themselves out of poverty, I have to say that I always had trouble in presenting a strong case against people’s objections and unwillingness to help. Consequently, Singer’s “ The life you can save” grabbed my attention, although I am familiar with most of what he presented, I was interested in the his constructed arguments that aims to convince people to try to change the lives of underprivileged human
