My name is Jonathan Sim Kim Yew and I was enrolled to Capstone 2 which is also known as Industry Consulting Project (ICP). Mr. Ismail was the one guiding us through this unit. I was nervous at first as I have known that ICP is quite challenging as we are required to present to the client on week 12.The ICP class started with an ice breaking session and I was grouped with four other members who are Eleen, Emily, Siti and Victor under Mr. Ismail supervision. I was fortunate that I was grouped with members from different major which are marketing, accounting and finance, human resource and management as it is well balanced in each of our expertise. I was also excited as I will be able to know new people and at the same time grouped with my friend, Victor. The atmosphere was relaxing as everyone was friendly and not shy. Each of our conversations went well and ended with the creation of Facebook group and Whatsapp for the exchange of information and communicates. In addition, Emily suggested that we think of a meaningful name and finally we decided to go with “Eco Buddies” suggested by Eleen which means enhancing the awareness of community not only as a group but as a friend. I felt that this name gives me the sign of closeness and I think it is brilliant. …show more content…
Ismail told us that our client is Dewan Bandaraya Kuching Utara (DBKU) and the task given by the client is “Youth and Volunteerism”. I was worried as I knew it will be challenging to change a person’s heart or interest. It requires effort and time to do so. Besides that, I also felt uncertain of DBKU background and needs. As far as I know, DBKU is all about ensuring the city is clean and safe. After hearing the briefing from Mr. Ismail, I realized that DBKU do involve in voluntary
Companies such as Apple have made a big impact on the world and our lives. Apple has affect our lives by changing the way we do things, for example, we started listening to music differently in 2010. Google also has an impact on our lives also, like the way use our emails which happen around 2009. General Electric provides electric and it has a big impact on how we use appliances.
The men that built America as they are called, are in fact Captains of Industry. Without them America would not be what it is today, the jobs they created and the things they invented helped make America a world power. Carnegie gave away almost his entire fortune before he died. Which was $350 million, in today’s money that is $13.7 billion. The captains of industry helped create thousands of jobs which allowed more people to work.
When it comes to this semester, things for me are going well. So far in the course, I have been able to get all my homework and reading entirely on time and not rushing things at the last minute. This week nine discussion I thought gave us a chance to showcase what well learned on the aspects of resume building and higher education career development for individuals. A lot of the information of have learned from week nine will assist in my research into the final project for this course. Learning about the news about career counseling in setting in scenes like elementary, high school to higher education’s makes us focus on the individual and what they want their future to look like.
Volunteer Recruiting and Development are also in a maturation

The Captains of Industry were certainly one of the most important factors in the development of United States in the period directly after the Civil War. While there is some merit to the argument that the industrial leaders were Robber Barons that did more harm than good, their contributions to American society clearly outweigh those negatives. The Captains of Industry quite literally revolutionized the American way of life that gave the U.S. the highest standard of living in the world prior to the outbreak of World War I. This was made possible due to the emergence of corporations in areas such as finance, steel, oil, and railroads. When these men combined with other factors, such as the mechanization of agriculture, immigration, migration,
Although many citizens viewed capitalists as “Captains of Industry,” they can also, just as easily, be seen as “Robber Barons.” Even though railroads were beneficial to society, they were not without corruption, as shown by the Credit Mobilier scandal. This was a railroad company that paid itself huge sums of money for small railroad construction. In fact, it received twenty-three million dollars in profit. Moreover, the railroad industry could be seen as completely insincere and dishonest because of its monopoles.
Scoring a fifteen in the life balance section of the profile solidified the idea that I am doing well at managing my time. As a person who loves a decent challenge, I always strive to push myself to take on more obligations even when it may seem my plate is already full. I thrive in an environment where I am being hard-pressed to achieve greatness. Having this pressure sometimes makes it difficult to separate my work life and home life, but that is something I have been working on as a personal goal. For the most part, I believe I set a suitable example for my employees to follow.
This module and coursework requirements were directed to present some crucial and effective experience for me. During the entire course, I had learnt a number of different learning, which can be proved quite helpful for me to build a successful and attractive career ahead. The reflection of the coursework learning can be presented as below: Problems faced during the research work: Although I have been able to finish my coursework requirements within the time frame.
Due to that, I have been appointed as mainboard in Adventure and Recreational Club for a year. Volunteering is when you freely offer to do something without pay. In a person’s life, they have at least participated in community service one time. Whether it be working the concession stand at a ball game, picking up the mail for an elder, or even babysitting. For some people, volunteering helps them feel like they play an essential role while they are giving back to their community. Although volunteering is purely an act of kindness, it can also be very helpful in some people’s lives, such as making them feel like they are the difference makers.
Introduction- The leadership and management are two important pillars of modern day business. “You manage things; you lead people” Grace Hopper (retired Admiral, U.S. Navy). On one hand managers, not only motivate people but they also set the course of direction and organize to achieve the targets.
Through this course I’ve learned skills of how to lead and work as a unit with others. Also through moving through the ranks and this past year being the Alpha Company commander with the rank of Cadet Captain I learned how to take responsibility of the actions and deeds of my unit and myself. It also helped me to see that being on the top of the food chain with many below you at your command isn’t all fun and games it entails things like knowing if your company’s data is all squared away and if everyone is up to date, if they all have uniforms and if not when will they get them, and if they have them are they wearing them correctly, who's going to promotion board are they ready is their uniform squared away and things like
This semester at COSTAATT was one of the hardest I ever experience thus far, but I must admit that it was also one of those that encouraged me to really come out of my comfort zone and work harder than ever before. Leadership and Ethics opened my eyes to what leadership really means, I learned that people aren’t necessarily born leaders, that leadership (more importantly, good leadership) can be learned, practiced, and mastered. I also learned that I can be my biggest roadblock to my own success as well as the biggest positive influence. It do not matter the rank, position or status, anyone can lead anyone else. In this course I became more introspective about my current leadership roles and the tweaks I could make to communicate more effectively and be a “better” leader
