At the end of this academic year I see myself being one course closer to completing my degree. I’m in the home stretch now and very anxious to complete my coursework.
Overall, I am quite pleased with the results I am getting. In terms of what I am learning, I would have to say I am pleasantly surprised with the information I already know and equally surprised at what I continue to learn. This course has given me a deeper understanding of how personality affects leadership. It has been interesting to see where I fit within the different leadership styles and to learn where the traits and characteristics that I have also fit in. I have also been more cognizant of my colleague’s leadership style, in particular my boss, and what styles he

In order to be a well-rounded, successful student you must be intelligent, have self-confidence, determination, integrity and sociability. The trait approach in particular, has given me a deeper understanding of how my personality is related to my leadership style. Although some traits may be stronger than others, I feel that I have possess all of these traits. One of my strengths is determination. I am very determined to complete this degree. As such, I keep moving through it one course at a time. I am the type of person that once I start something, I have to finish it. It I am stuck, I find a way to power through the obstacles. I can be very persistent especially when I know there is a means to an …show more content…
I have a time frame in which I want to accomplish my goal and I am very attentive to that goal. I started my degree in Fall 2013 and I have not taken one term off since I began for fear of not wanting to get back to it. Another time management skill I am working to perfect is how to balance work, school and life. This has not always been easy. I thought it would get easier as my kids got older but it has been quite the opposite. As my children get older and less dependent, I find there are other things that I would rather be spending my free time n. This has become one of the biggest challenges for me as of late. Another strength of mine is my ability to manage and work with people. I am very approachable and easy-going. I have a way with people that makes them feel comfortable in a variety of situations. I take other people’s situations and feelings into consideration when making decisions. Northouse (2017) noted “human skill is the capacity to get along with others as you go about our work” (p.
I am usually forced to find new strategies I was not able to think of earlier. College can be an environment that forces you to deal with unexpected events, and unanticipated problems. My ability to adapt can help me be successful at GCU because I thrive in environments where I might having changes in my priorities, or unexpected request from professors. I have the flexibility to deal with change whether it is in the classroom or in my personal life.
My strongest attribute is being able to work well in a team and taking lead if needs be. I am very confident in speaking, presenting and asking/answering questions in lectures.
No one person is the same as another, we all interact, behave, think and feel differently, and I think this is what amazes me the most. One strength that is substantive to my career that I believe I have, is empathy. I have always had such an efficacious sense of empathy with the people around me.
This strength has developed through the amount of good influences I have had in my life. I use this skill every day at work and in my personal life. The last skill I will discuss is I have excellent communication skills. This strength has developed through years of giving presentations in school, and on the job training. Effective communication skills can help convey important messages and can help gain someone’s
One of my strengths is in creativity. I am person who excels greatly when I am able to be creative and have freedom to think outside the box. However, that can also become a weakness because for assignments that are more limited and structured I to find to be challenging. Another strength I have is being able to learn quickly from my previous mistakes. There are times where I mess up or do something wrong, but my plan is to put those failures to good use.
Many posses the commitment to the qualities of scholarship, leadership, service, and character, but how one uses them shows the core of their disposition. For each of these qualities, there are many traits, useful in a leader, and not. Since it is only my second year as a student at Carlsbad High School, there has not been much time of my being distracted from my school work as I try to be as diligent of a student as possible. However, from time to time, I take a break and do things for the community instead. The students that make up the National Honor Society are extremely dedicated in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character, and I would be very grateful to be a part of the standards.
To begin with, my top strength is positivity. According to Rath, “ You are generous with praise, quick to smile, and always on the lookout for the positive in the situation” (Rath p141). I believe it is always important to be positive regardless of how bad a situation is. My job is to motivate others when they become pessimistic of a certain task. This strength is essential in both school and a career as neither a classmate or a co-worker wants to surround him or herself with negativity that makes for a long day.
The transmutation from the fall semester to the spring, was quite strenuous, no longer was I a part time student. I was taking 16 credits and this meant adjusting to the course load. The first couple of weeks were a hassle and I felt that there were not enough days in the week to complete the assignments. Now, in the mid semester, one of my main priorities was to purchase a planner and a calendar.
Good listener: The ability to listen when others are talking is another strength that I
This course has also expanded on different aspects of adaptive leadership such as: disequilibrium, diversity, running experiments, and the four KLC competencies of civic leadership. Two of the biggest takeaways I have gained through course are being able to tell a technical problem from an adaptive problem, and learning of the four KLC competencies. My ideas of ideal leadership were very basic and elementary when I first began this course. I was very stuck on trait theory and the functional approach as most people think that leaders are born and not made, and that by completing tasks a leader would do then you are looked at as being a leader. I believe this is due largely to my playing of competitive team sports as this is where trait theory and the functional approach can be largely seen for a lot
Academic success to me is achieving good grades and understanding the material to get good grades. Academic success also means to have an good attendance. I already get mostly A’s and B’s, but I am not good at staying on top of things. To improve my academic success I will attend class more often, be more organized, pay attention in class, and not procrastinate.
My personal strengths is my ability to be innovative & creative, with open mind. These 3 things enable me to be a efficient & effective in my every way of life. Being open to new ideas is very fantastic ways. Compared to those of my peers with others in my life. Being open minded is very good way the adapt & grasp things easily in less time.
Most importantly, since the contents of this course are largely different from what I have learned in my major courses. I regard this as a rare opportunity for me to take on some new challenges, and I would like to take a chance to develop my leadership skills. Before attending this course, “leadership” is a word quite far away from me, and I only have some basic understandings of it. And I found out that most of my thoughts I had about leadership are very different from what it really is.
Also consideration feedback received on my work has helped me correct my weaknesses and further develop my strengths in the future. Overall, I am satisfied with my progress, but I am also aware that there is always space for improvement and I feel prepared to go into the workplace. I believe my experiences at university have increased my employability and feel that I have a lot to offer to employers, because of the professional and personal development that has occurred in the last three
Strengths: As a student one of my strengths is organization. I can say I can keep my school materials and notebooks organized in a way that I and others can comprehend. The reason I can say I am organized is because, I have hardly ever had in the past or present any issues with trying to find homework or assignments because I always kept my materials for each class organized and in a place I could easily find. Another strength I have is social skills. I can believe that I communicate with others well in a group.
