Micro Teaching Lesson: Nutrition Fact Label

Reflection on microteaching Lesson I must say that to me microteaching was not an easy ride. I was quite nervous and a bit shy when I did the first microteaching compared to the second one. Hence, there was much evidence of composure teaching the second class. I had found it extremely difficult teaching my peers compared to teaching high school students. However, after completing the first microteaching and receiving honest feedback from my peers I felt quiet comfortable in teaching them.
I am pleased with how organized and prepared my class and lesson was. The class

After reviewing the video and comparing with the first microteaching lesson I did extremely well as a result of being more relaxed and confident. At one point I was a little apprehensive because I thought my peers and professor were not understanding the 5/20 rule. Everyone was a bit quiet, but I get to understand during the feedback that they were trying to cement the new information in their brain. I really wish we had more time to go in depth, such as including more comparisons of different nutrition fact labels and to have the closure to my lesson. I had planned a competition between two groups, side A and side B based on the lesson which time didn’t allow us to get it done. But as my professor says, this do happen at times so don’t beat upon yourself. The two microteaching classes was a good refresher for me since I haven’t taught a class in the past four years yet so a higher education class, a great experience. In a nutshell, although my microteaching was not an easy ride, I must appreciate that more was learnt than could imagined. I gained vast experience in preparing lesson plans and teaching as per its guidelines for higher education. Also gained a fair amount of courage to face a higher education class and deliver appropriately. Finally, am now certain that I can comfortably handle any higher Education class once adequately prepared. Having successfully completed my two-micro teaching exercise, I now got a glimpse of what is expected in a real higher Education
In the middle of the winter of the 5th grade school year at the Kaneland Mcdole Elementary School, I decided to cover for my best friend so he wouldn't get in trouble from my teacher. It was very cold while I waited at the bus stop every morning trying to amuse myself by sliding down the icy driveways. Ethan S., Sergio, and Grant were my best friends in 5th grade. Sergio was Mexican and a little shorter than me. He also sat next to me in desks of 5 or 4.
This year has been a ride to say the least… We came in thinking that we would be taught by Dr.Rice, a woman known by the to be eccentric at times but incredibly intelligent and wise. The reality of the situation was that halfway through the year we were removed from her teaching and put in a different class altogether. This change was sudden and honestly a major inconvenience to the class as a whole. We did learn yes but it felt rushed and and spastic like the whole time we were cramming info into our brains rather than taking our time to learn and digest the material.
Its always room for improvement. The feedback were similar between the Instructor, Mr.Jones and the Mentor, Dr. Won. However, giving clear instrusions was the only difference. I feel that I could have gave better instructions, but they were good. Another feedback I received was to slow down, and wait a more for responses, which I agree on.
I broke the students up into groups and gave each group a theme to focus on pulling quotes from the book that relate to the theme. I thought the lesson went over very well the students were engaged and on task. All the groups worked well together. Each student contributed to the collaborative team poster. As I walked around I notice group members helping out others group members which is great interaction
One of the most important actions that a student can take, is to be honest, and self-reflective, about the level of understanding achieved after completing any course within his/her education career. From my personal view, I feel that this class provided me with a great introduction to the MHA program, and is setting me up for successful in this educational program; but with that being said I would not pretend that I was able to assimilate every concept that was presented in this course, I would definitely need to continue to review the material in this course and on the MHA program overall, so that I could be a knowledgeable, and effective Health Care Manager. When it comes to my ability to discuss the different learning outcomes, I have to say that I definitely acquired a much deeper understanding of the material presented in this course. The materials were not difficult concepts to understand, but sometimes the way the material was delivered made it a difficult task just to read through the information, but as I would imagine, we are trying to achieve an education at a much higher level, which requires the processing and understanding of much more complex information, that sometimes will be
Mrs. Tijerina even uses her personal time to create activities that she will use on her class ( 88 hours payed,10-15 of her free time). To perform her work Mrs. Tijerina uses teaching strategies such as group work, guided practice, on-hands activities (labs), individual practice, class discussion among others, but also equally important is the way she manage her class room, in order to promote more easily education and maintain control the students, she uses techniques such as restroom passes, assigned sits, parents and students conferences. Ultimately, all hard work pay off, even if Mrs. Tijerina have some challenges as a teacher, all are worth with the “Aaah” moment, which she describe as the moment in which a student understand something that they didn’t
I conducted my observations at Lockport Middle School. Lockport Middle School is currently ranked an A school from the Louisiana Department of Education. Science lessons were observed in sixth, seventh, and eighth grade over the course of a two week period. All three classrooms displayed a positive climate.
But put simply reflection is merely a process to; help us understand the links between what we do (what we can call our practice) and how we might improve our effectiveness (by developing our practice) (Ghaye, Tony 2010) Reflection was first introduced to me through the Microteaching facility. Here the reflection is based on three ten minute lectures, and incorporates personal, peer and expert
Additionally, students should understand that no matter how effective a learning technique is, it does not guarantee their success in exams or in the long term. No learning technique is flawless, and each can be used ineffectively; but with proper skills to apply them, these techniques can be of
The students were highly engaged. I could say that the concepts to be learn were explicitly linked to ELLs’ background experience and past learning. I listened to the teacher’s speech and voice projection, it was appropriate (not too slow, not too fast), and she emphasized the importance of being respectful/active listeners. She ensured that each students had sufficient time to respond to her questions, and clarify if a student seemed confused (regarding the objectives). As the students did the group work, Mrs. Carbone foster noticing.
I felt that the children were very well behaved than most children. It was a bit shocking. All of them were extremely respectful of their teacher. I am excited to continue observing this class the next couple weeks. Being in an actual classroom makes me super excited for my
I was wrong. After not doing so well on the first two exams, I could not figure out what was wrong. I reached out to my professor who agreed to meet me and go over my exams. She told me that I must use the text book rather than the lecture notes. Ever since I have used the text book my exam score had increased by thirty percent.
Overall, this learning experience has taught me how to treat each student individually but also teach concepts as a whole group. Each student has different needs and although they are all learning the same concept they come to mastery in very different ways. As a future teacher I am thankful this experience has taught me how to help each of my students in the way they need best by incorporating different instructional methods and different ways of
Throughout my training, I implemented various strategies for engaging students in small groups and rigorous lessons. My role as a teacher is to communicate effectively, be respectful, and have self-worth and confidence. I did fear making wrong choices throughout this field experience. I set high expectations the students to achieve high goals. Teaching to me opened doors to many students’ lives.
Although the lesson plan’s primary objective is to improve the overall quality of teaching to benefit students, this also improves teacher motivation and development. This is achieved through using the lesson plan as a permanent record of lessons taught. In the case where the lesson has been
