Before making the decision to return back to school and finish my education, I definitely wanted to reflect on my past educational experiences. Thinking back, there were certainly a few different challenges I faced. In high school, I don’t feel as though I took my education as seriously as I should have. Without a doubt, if I could go back, I would’ve spent a lot less time focused on friends, and more time focused on the books. Outside of my classmates, I had a life changing event happen my senior year; I found out I was pregnant with my daughter. Being pregnant in high school was not easy. Reflecting on my prior experiences. I can definitely say that I have several strengths. One of them being that I am a great listener. In class, it wasn’t difficult for me to remember the things that my teachers and professors would teach. I knew that listening was extremely important, because I would pick up and learn new things every day. So luckily for me, I had no problem with that. Another strength of mine is English. For some reason, I’ve always excelled in my English classes. I really did enjoy being able to express my opinions and concerns through different creative writing styles. Plus, writing used to challenge me to use a variety of different skills I normally didn’t get to utilize. Like researching, thinking outside of the box, using diction I wouldn’t usually use, and many more. English class just came naturally, and I really did take pleasure in what it taught me. The last major strength that I posses when it comes to learning, is my note taking skills. During my last year in high school, I got the chance to work alongside some amazing English teachers as a student aid. That experience was more than just an extra credit for me, it was a learning opportunity as well. I would have teachers proof read my work, offer me advice on essays I was writing for colleges, and even help me improve learning skills. My strongest attribute is being able to work well in a team and taking lead if needs be. I am very confident in speaking, presenting and asking/answering questions in lectures.
No one person is the same as another, we all interact, behave, think and feel differently, and I think this is what amazes me the most. One strength that is substantive to my career that I believe I have, is empathy. I have always had such an efficacious sense of empathy with the people around me.
After knowing what my weaknesses are, I usually try to solve them and improve my skills. For example, I’m not a highly flexible and positive person, so I seek out to individuals who are flexible and positive in their lives and ask for their advice. Another strength that I have is that I usually have a positive outlook of my improvement, because I have seen examples of those who overcome their hardships and become successful in life, so I believe that if I try hard enough, I will be able to overcome my weaknesses. I’m also confident with my listening skills and my ability to focus on others and make them feel heard. I like to start on works and projects early so that if anything comes up, I will still have time to handle it.
I have become more determined which is one of my strengths. What I have done to stay more focused is make a list of my priorities that I need to stay on task with. It makes me feel better about myself when I check things off my list. I have been also persistent which is another strength that will help me succeed and will help me become a better

Another strength as a writer is i 'm good at ending my conclusions, restating my main point, and connecting my paper to my own life experience. As a writer when i 'm typing i look for little mistakes i may be missing such as periods, apostrophe and commas. My weaknesses as a writer is i but too many ideas that isn 't needed in my paper. I go off track and put things that aren 't related with what i 'm writing or trying to prove. This is one of my common errors.
As I began the journey of returning to school, one of my biggest fears, was the writing aspect in the classes. The fear of reading and writing has never been a strong quality; however, I have never able to successfully be creative in the way I learn. I understand my weaknesses and when I need to focus on my strengths. I am constantly learning new ways, skills, and tools to utilize to continue to grow as a writer. Focusing on my strengths allows me to have the security that I can be a good writer.
Personal Narrative Essay Believe it or not, sometimes a gracious action can bring a huge influence on a person. When I read the introduction that instructor Heller wrote, there is a sentence she wrote: “Sometimes the most influential moments in our lives are smaller moments, events that we may not recognize as influential until years after the experience.” For some reason, I related to it strongly. My story is about my high school experience. Also, I will share some significant moments in my life, and how these smaller moments changed my personality.

The past four years of my life hold both my highest of highs and my lowest of lows. High school can be a very awkward time period in a person’s life. Four years ago, I made the intimidating switch from St. Mary’s School to Algoma High School. There were certain aspects of high school which made me nervous, but academics was not one of them. I learned how to be a responsible student in my earlier years, and school had always come relatively easy to me.
My high school experience was a long, frustrating learning experience. I didn’t know what to expect, or what I was getting myself into. Nobody gave me the tools to understand the main focus of each year. I am going to give you tips and advice on how to succeed in high school. I will discuss 9-12th grade along with what to expect each year.
High school grows you into the person you are. I have great memories, good and bad, some learning experiences and some that I’ll take with me the rest of my life. My high school experience has influenced my development as a person inside and outside of the class by making me more independent, choosing friends wisely and teachers motivating me to attend college and accomplish goals I have set for myself. I have gained my independence slowly throughout high school. The importance of being independent is being secure with who you are and what you believe in.
Strengths: As a student one of my strengths is organization. I can say I can keep my school materials and notebooks organized in a way that I and others can comprehend. The reason I can say I am organized is because, I have hardly ever had in the past or present any issues with trying to find homework or assignments because I always kept my materials for each class organized and in a place I could easily find. Another strength I have is social skills. I can believe that I communicate with others well in a group.
There is this famous saying, ''Develop a passion for learning. If you do, you will never cease to grow". I could not agree more. Growing up as a kid, I vividly recall myself always being enthusiastic to learn and explore. Now I stand on the state where I can proudly say that this passion has driven my growth, motivated me to grow even further and augmented my hunger for quality education.
