Self-assessment and reflection are inevitable to be able to grow into a great leader. As a new grad, it is important to reflect and look back on the skills the individual has to bring to the table. It is so important to review and look over their strengths, weaknesses, and values. This allows for personal growth and companionship with others. When an individual is so aware of their leadership style they are able to change and shape it accordingly and be able to adapt to any environment. This in its self is so powerful and can make huge improvements within the department and all around make an individual a better nurse. It has brought to light some of the areas that need to be worked on. It has also brought up some of the attributes that the author excels at. The author has learned that her emotional intelligence is high and she excels in under pressure situations. The values assessment shed some great insight on what is really important to the author it was quite surprising to her. She realized that diversity is not her strong suit and she needs to research more and be able to understand other beliefs and religion and take them into consideration. This knowledge could have a positive impact on her leadership. The individual has assessed their self through these quizzes and has shown that the authors attitude towards others will be quite inviting. This knowledge can have an influence on my values by increasing my outlook on diversity by allowing other religions and beliefs into my life to fully understand. Imagine this: You and your classmates are asked to lift ‘x’ amount of weight, ‘x’ amount of times, or for ‘x’ period of time. During these lifts, you will be analyzed and assessed based off performance. The assessment will begin during or after instructions are given and will continue throughout the semester. Steady build of progress is expected and select milestones must be obtained in order to perform well in the class. After the instructions are given, you and your classmates are to begin performing the required criteria.

I have always hated writing about myself, and I always dreaded assignments in school where I had to describe myself. I always wanted to avoid doing these assignments because I did not want to sound narcissistic, or self-absorbed. I dislike people like that now, because I used to be one of those people. It took many lessons learned before I humbled myself; I am still learning to humble myself today with recent experiences I have had. Although I hate to write about myself, I have always liked to reflect on myself.
