Girls let their inner criticisms go and learn about leadership (EmpowHER Diaries) Kathmandu, August 20, 2016: In a programme recently organized in Kathmandu, a group of girls have learnt about the leadership and let go of their inner ctiticisms. In the programme organized as part of an EmpowHER session, a project by Ujyalo Foundation for the women empowerment, the girls gathered for the programme and learnt on how to move ahead in their life, tackling all the challenges they have been facing on daily basis. Beginning the programme, Amuda Mishra, initiator of the programme, asked the girls to make a human pyramid, making them feel about the teamwork. In the process, participants learnt what it needs for a person to be a team player and how a …show more content…
“It is all about speaking up, demanding and negotiating,” she shared. They also learnt that people should estimate themselves, but never underestimate and be apologetic all the time. They also learnt the necessity to make one’s counterpart as the real partner, by choosing the partner who really believes in partnership. In the session, they were also made to self-realize and see if the tides are with them or not. “Most of the times, we need to be with the tides. But, if the tides aren’t with us, that’s still okay. We can still and learn to maneuver and adjust with the tides. Similarly, the girls also learnt that they are anyone’s equal but not superior to anyone. A Self-reflection session followed next in which the participants were made to review themselves on who and how they were in the past, what they are at the present and how honest they are in doing things. In the session, they also learnt that to be a leader and successful person, one should learn to let anything go. “Most of the times, think about what the other people might think about us. Hence, we just censor ourselves too much. To be a good leader, we should never doubt about our capabilities,” shared
How she describes the ship as a dream and the coming to tide as the achieving of the dream is beautiful. Also, the way she describes the horizon to define the vast, almost endless pursuit of men’s dreams is powerful, because the amount of twists and turns in life are just as limitless and unpredictable as what lies on the horizon. In addition, no one ever knows what could lie on the other side of the horizon. Men are chasing the horizon, which always appears so close, only to the die on the open sea. Even though she does not explicitly mean the open sea, she implies that men waste countless hours and die only focused on the dream they were chasing, never realizing the good they had already achieved.
One of the many benefits of the middle school model is that being part of a team forms a bond between the teachers and students. “The team and their students truly become a community of learners.” (Kellough & Kellough, 2008, pg 8) In order for a team to be successful teams must provide tools to help students grow. (Erb, T. O, 2006, pg 5)
Analysis of and reflection on my learning from the experiences of observing a child under the age of 5 in their day care environment, making use of literature on observation in social work and the development of reflective practice This reflection is based on Gibbs’ (1998) reflective cycle. Refection is an important process in social work as it provides a foundation for future accomplishment. The work of Donald Schon explains reflection in action, reflecting on the behaviors as it happens and reflection on action, making reflection after an event as explained by Goud and Taylor (1996). This was developed in social work due to ongoing enquires into child abuse.
Group: Group: A group is a collection of people or individuals who coordinate their individual efforts. They could be working independently but at some juncture their efforts are coordinated. Team: Team: A team is a group of people who share common goals and challenges and they work harmoniously to achieve their set goals. Both the “Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizens” and “A Vindication of the Rights of Woman” discuss the roles and natural rights that should be upheld in society. However, the “Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizens” only covers those roles and rights pertaining to men and other citizens, which at this time in history did not include women. On the other hand, “A Vindication of the Rights of Woman” covers the roles and rights of both men and women and discusses ways that society could improve to create equal rights for everyone. The differences in these two texts are evident in the language and length of each text. The “Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizens” is only three pages long compared to the fourteen page, “A
This activity was done to show the audience that having too many people can become ineffective as some people were doing nothing, but the teams with very little people were also ineffective as they could not get as much done. This enabled me to make the connection
Prior to the session, I was apprehensive towards my decision making, due to my previous session. I recapped my goals: accepting the silence, and trying not to lead the discussion, really focusing on the speakers’ responses instead of my own. This reflection will be a response to the progress made in these two specific areas, along with new realizations and observations from the second session. The beginning of the second session began fairly quickly, Abbey walked in, sat on the floor and poured her coffee into her mug, I moved my pillow and notebook to the floor and flowed into discussion, I began the conversation with the phrase “so how’s it going”.
Case 9.1 Am I Really a Leader? Carlous B. Yates 1. Learning about one’s self is an essential step in becoming an authentic leader. What role did self-awareness play in Sally Helgesen’s story of Leadership?

INTRODUCTION This paper is mainly related to the idea of cognitive ambidexterity, the need for creativity and creative intelligence and the need for leaders today to utilize their creativity to capture the attention of the society at large by using social media as a tool to success. The paper starts with a survey of real issues confronting society today. The author believes that the world has reached a state of stagnation due to the lack of creativity. Creativity is no longer encouraged and the society, by and large has been confined to models that were created years ago.
I spend a significant amount of time just thinking about myself as I go throughout my day. I constantly question myself: why am I the way that I am, what could I have done better here, what is my place in the world, etc. In the context of this paper, I have come to a conclusion. In the past, I was a leader. Now, I realized I have failed.
It can be easily reached by utilizing the self expression and social awareness skills. In other word, if individuals can express themselves and understand others properly, they can be capable to know others’ opinions of their performance, which can further lead to their self-improvement. As far as I am concerned, self-management, which can be accomplished by self reflection, involves two perspectives: evaluating self position and optimizing positive emotions. Based on the study of Millikin, Hom and Manz(2010), in the process of handling a group task, participants in Self Management Work Team tend to be confident about others and negotiate with others effectively. Thus, there exist sufficient evidence to conclude that self management is an important perspective of social competence for both leaders and
While reflecting with my grade level team, we share successes, challenges, and ideas for improvements. After reading the lecture on reflection my understanding of reflection was expanded, and I was able to identify strengths and weaknesses in my reflective practices. Although I was familiar with the importance of reflection in teaching, the lecture helped me to understand why reflection is important for all professionals. I learned that reflection is important in any profession where there are situations that arise that do not have one “right” solution.
Introduction In India, discriminatory attitude towards men and women have existed for generations and thus it affect the lives of both genders. Although the constitution of India has granted men and women equal rights, but gender gap still remains. Female discrimination violates human rights.
