Our stories say that when the universe was created, not all of it fit. Pieces fell off the whole, like water overfilling a glass, and those bits dropped into cracks and were forgotten.

Our stories, the oldest ones; the ones most people no longer remember, say that my world is one of those forgotten places, hidden away in a pocket of existence and for the most part separated from the human world or as they call it, Earth.

But not entirely.

An indestructible bridge kept both worlds alive and in order. For although each world was a mirror image of the other. Each held something the other didn 't.

A truth.

Earth was known for its evolution, it 's science and its notorious human beings.

Weaving its spell almost seductively over me. Ever heard that phrase ‘curiosity killed the cat’. Well that phrase was based on me. Earth was forbidden to all Ariyanians. It was a secret everyone knew even though it was never whispered into another 's ear.

I had spent countless summers seeking knowledge of earth and all its mysteries.
Searching the great halls of knowledge, following every track and lead but as my progress grew so did the danger. My age was not as excuse anymore. What I was doing could get me killed. But there was more to my obsession the most knew. I was searching for them. The portals. The most vulnerable spot in Ariyan. The place that would send me to earth and now I finally held the key to it in my grasp.

I unscrolled the piece of parchment, unveiling its intricate work. It was heavily inlaid with magic. I could feel the magic of the symbols recoiling against my own and then suffocating my own pure magic. Blood magic. The darkest art, it was unnatural, not meant to be known. Used in the time of the mages when they massacred millions of my people. Its purpose had been to open the portals to export all sorts of monstrous machinery and weapons that laid waste to our land and people. It had taken extreme magic to win the war. I felt her courage and warmth, her love. His love. They had been there! Guarding the borders. My mother and her sentuary who was known as my father. They had single handedly stopped the mages from receiving more weaponry.

Without that turning point, the war would have never been won. Yet my parents were still sacrificed in the end. The elders sealed the borders of the portals while they were still in. Trapping then forever in earth. I was only eight summers and I had lost my entire world. Forever.

That 's when I vowed to myself that I would find out what had happened to them and I have never stopped.

Pushing away from the dark memories, I focused I the task at hands. I only had a short period of time to complete the chant.
Each symbol leapt effortlessly off my tongue, sounding dark and ancient.
A magic that was meant to be forgotten now flowed through my veins. Infusing it 's dark power with my spirit. I let the magic take over me.
