Have you ever met somebody who would lead a “significant effect” or a “defining impact” in your life’s perspective? The things that you hold to believe will change. In my sixteen years of living, I can simply constitute some experiences that I remember that defines me as an individual.
It took place two years ago, after school and no one was there to pick me up, although it is actually a common situation to most, it was uncommon for me. It was that brief conversation with the man that made me re-assess who I am as an individual, what are my priorities, responsibilities and the things that I value to a greater extent. This experience taught me to value my family, because in the end, even if we have disagreements among ourselves, they are my family, and I know I would miss them when they are gone and efforts of appreciating them can be profoundly worthwhile. My parent constantly says “Some lessons in life are not consistently taught in school but should be known." I never paid much attention to that until about a few years back. It proves the importance of finding a balance between reading a book and learning from experiences. Situations cannot be reacted or prepared for, thus it aids us to know more about ourselves and therefore function important in our growth and happiness. We learn certain characteristics about ourselves qualities like strengths, weaknesses, inclinations, and fears.
Hence, It is my goal to gain as much knowledge as I can because it 's more often than not leads to satisfaction in life. I realized that a great deal of my life desires was introduced to me through my education and surrounding. Have you ever faced a life-changing experience that changed your life and country? If so, you are similar to Melba Pattillo Beals in Warriors Don’t Cry, Jackie Robinson in I Never Had it Made, and Feng Ru in “The Father of Chinese Aviation.” They all took a risk and faced life-changing experiences that changed their lives and their countries in some way. Melba Pattillo Beals faced life-changing experiences that helped improve education for African Americans. She endured challenges like facing threats from white people and coming across discrimination.
Everyone has events in their lives that have significant impacts on them. These particular events are what help shape people into who they are. In my life, one of these events was when I committed to play baseball at Mississippi State University. This event has caused important changes in my baseball career, social life, and my academics. Committing to MSU was a great moment in my life and it has changed my life considerably.
An individual who has had a significant impact in my life would be Maribeth Holland. Maribeth Holland has been in inspiration to me for quite a bit of time. I would put her in the category of being my mentor, although her official title to me would be my teacher. Holland has been an inspiration to me throughout my Junior and Senior years of high school at Fountain Central. She has helped me to become a better student.
How have I improved as a writer? I am thinking about my action plan as a writer have I improved, have I met the goals I set out to achieve on my first day of class, and what have I learned in this class? I will go over my time in this class and review the various topics I mentioned above and more. Looking back over my time in this class I will critique and praise myself. Personal Narrative Essay Believe it or not, sometimes a gracious action can bring a huge influence on a person. When I read the introduction that instructor Heller wrote, there is a sentence she wrote: “Sometimes the most influential moments in our lives are smaller moments, events that we may not recognize as influential until years after the experience.” For some reason, I related to it strongly. My educational journey has been an experience I will remember. I have attended school in three different countries, Antigua, St. Thomas, and New York. A diverse educational experience has allowed me to interact with many different cultures and confront many of the different topics we discussed in class. At that time however, I was not fully aware of the implications of certain situation but after many readings I can now fully understand many of the experiences I encountered in my journey. All the information I have learned in this class however will bring all my experience together where I can make much more sense of it than I could when I was younger.
