Reflection Paper On Counseling

Drawing off of the course lessons 29 and 30 I sat down and counseled Cadet Fessler about how I have seen this semester going for him. To prepare for this counseling I set up a time to meet with Cadet Fessler and it was a situation that required informal attire, and the way I had set up the room was so we could sit on the same side of the table but maintain eye contact while talking to each other in order to make it appear to be a more conversational meeting rather than a one sided conversation creating a supportive climate. To prepare my information and self for the meeting I spoke to Cadet Calandro about what he has seen and what I have seen just comparing notes about Cadet Fessler, roughly an hour before my meeting with Cadet Fessler I was sitting in the cadet lounge planning what I was going to say and how I would take notes and pondering any potential questions he would have or suggestions he would make for the betterment of training.
During the counseling session I made sure to keep a Supportive climate, one correction I made was about how his command presence is not very good and he does not speak out during LLAB so evaluating him is difficult because he blends in to the flight. The way I went about making this correction was, I asked him “How he felt he was doing? If you where in my position how would you say you where doing in relation to your flight mates?” The reason I was doing this was not to be passive it was to teach him what we look for when evaluating the
