My observation took place at the Redondo Study Hut, Monday March 19th of 2018 in the afternoon. I was shadowing Veronica as she was tutoring one of her regular tutees, Dominic. Dominic is in the eighth grade and has a learning disability. He tends respond better through visual learning. I chose to observe Veronica’s tutoring style as she works to accommodate for Dominic’s learning disability when creating a lesson plan. Veronica is a very patient and organized tutor. She works well with kids and takes her time to tutor all her kids. Going through each subject with her tutees, she goes into specificity to ensure follow up questions were answered and confusions were cleared. In doing so, she would ask her students if they have their notes or book to use as a guide to reinforce and retain information. Throughout the session, I am expecting it to go somewhat smooth, …show more content…
As soon as the tutee came in, the tutor greeted him and asked the tutee what it is they will be working on today. This allowed some time and space for the tutee to discuss with their tutor what it is he needs help with. The tutor was able to initiate the tutoring session with a broad question to allow the tutee to explain what it is he was confused with. Actively listening, this allowed Veronica to develop follow-up question to push students to elaborate on their point of confusion. Veronica was able to see that the tutee needed help with his math homework, solving dilation problems. Before attempting a problem in the assignment, the tutor asked questions that would help her see how well he understands the concept. Through his explanation, Veronica was able to evaluate where the disconnect of information was to create a lesson plan to
Additionally, Brian’s parents may want to send his teacher the results of their tutoring sessions every week to show the teacher what they are doing and how they are progressing and have her check and sign off on the work provided. The teacher could also offer recommendations and suggestions for Brian’s parents in regards to their tutoring work. The actual tutoring would take place twice a week, on Tuesday and Thursday evenings with the teacher being sent a report on Friday. On Friday the teacher could send feedback home to the parents and over the weekend the parents could review the feedback and develop the next week’s tutoring
The tutor explains to him how to work with it step by step. They are working with a pencil and notebook. A computer is opened with the assignments in display. As soon as the kid understands what he is doing he writes the answer on the computer to check if its right. The tutor goes over the
Khristy Hernandez 1AB Mrs.Carroll Place: Seabourn Elementary School, 1st graders Time: 4 hours and 14 minutes The point for this observation was to ask my mentor ‘ What has been the biggest challenge for her in relation to providing accommodations?’ And ‘ How she overcame that challenge?’ Her biggest challenge in relation to providing accommodations is the fact that you need to customize each kid's needs, like homeschooling, free lunch, and getting teachers to take out kids out of class for 15 minutes just to help them get better at reading or anything else.
CJ is making progress in all areas of tutoring: executive functioning, reading fluency, reading comprehension, and writing. Outstanding work, CJ! This term, CJ demonstrated a much improved effort in both transitioning and staying on task. While staying on task is sometimes challenging, CJ now understands that it is a skill that is required for academic success. CJ also made strong gains in reading this term; he is now reading and comprehending above grade level!
This was due to the fact that her teacher, Miss Schmidt, used to be an expert and didn’t take suggestions from younger students, nor did she seem inviting to students to have them suggest to her their ideas. However, the glorious day came when Miss Schmidt decided to change things up in terms of how she teaches. This time, Miss Schmidt asked Cathy Davidson how she felt and if she would
It was difficult advising her on how to handle the situation. The previous year, I only worked with this teacher four periods a week, as she had both 6th and 7th grade students. Her schedule did not allow her to be with the special education students in my room, since I had the aide to work with them in my classes. Mr. Allison, I know you are aware of the situation and without going into detail, this made my job as mentor to Amy very difficult.
These APPE sites expose students to innovative healthcare delivery systems and treatment protocols. The majority of the sites are located in various areas of California, representing various segments of the general society, including medically underserved areas. Throughout the APPE curriculum, students will be exposed to diverse patient populations. Students will be expected to deliver evidence-based care to patients of diverse cultural, economic, geographic, and/or disease state-related backgrounds. Most APPE rotations will have a focus on interprofessional interaction and practice.

This shows such naivety from Daisy, that a former teacher is not conscious of the things kids say to get out of doing their homework. It is ironic that as a former teacher, Daisy is failing
I visited two classes in an p-k through fifth grade elementary school. The teachers will be called Miss P for the preschool and Miss H for the first grade. I chose a four year old boy from the preschool class who will be called Pb and a six year old girl from the first grade who will be called Fg. The two were of different ethnic backgrounds with Fg being african american and Pb being white. This paper will include observations, and comparisons about the children, teachers, classroom environment and whether the naeyc code of ethical conduct was followed.
Moon decides that she will create a few example small group lesson plans to show the potential effectiveness of group counseling to her principal and school staff in order to potentially reinstate group counseling. In the meantime, she will ensure her student’s needs are being met and continue to promote her self-efficacy while providing a welcoming and supportive atmosphere for her to speak freely. This is especially important given the conservative nature of the community. By developing Irina’s confidence and autonomy, she prepares her for future encounters where she feels comfortable disclosing her identity and receiving support from other trusted people (perhaps even her parents). She will provide the student with various resources from the community and help her in any way possible through this time of transition.
Video Response 3 Addressing a student’s needs plays a vital part in the student’s academic success. Understanding one’s needs requires that a teacher take the steps to understanding the child’s personality traits, interests, abilities, disabilities, and so forth. Students are more likely to grasp the interest of learning a specific subject if they feel that the teacher is kind and understanding, just as Trisha and Brittany’s teachers is. Brittany’s mother mentions that a significant change is notable in Brittany’s self-esteem and grades (Kirk, Gallagher, & Coleman, 2015). Trisha certainly associates her good grades to her relationship with her science teacher and identifies her teacher as helpful (Kirk, Gallagher, & Coleman, 2015).
From all the diverse backgrounds, learning styles and needs in the program, there were many obstacles that I had to overcome to create a lesson that would
There was a bunch of challenges that Aimee Mullins faced but one of them was her teacher. The teacher tries to stop Aimee from returning to class by saying that she would be a distraction to the other students in the class. Aimee Mullins sas, “But my teacher had a different idea about that. She tried to prevent me from returning to class … and said that I would be a distraction to the other students.” (para.
After completing my sixth grade year, I found myself tutoring once again. This time I looked forward to helping children once again. My tutoring sessions during this summer became easier and more productive for the students than my previous summer. The additional learning experience and hours spent bonding with the students
