A1 Self-leadership

Self-leadership is presented as a set of behavioral strategy to help higher one’s effectiveness and bring high work performance ( Manz, 1986). This includes the self-understanding part and the self-management part, that combine the reinforcement (Bandura, 1977), goal-setting and intrinsic motivation (Deci, 1975). For the individual aspect, self-leading people have a higher job performance (Konradt, Andreßen & Ellwart, 2009) and they usually be more creative (Carmeli, Meitar, & Weisberg, 2006). People can get improvements after they understand the situation and their own strengths and weaknesses, which is self- understanding. They have to set goals and standard to themselves and seek a better plan for them to reach the goal, similar to the self -goal setting. With good use of primary factor …show more content…

Self-control means the individual’s capability to adjust their behavior to reach the goal or meet the standard that they expected (Baumeister, Vohs & Tice, 2007) . Some studies point up the self-control is controlling individual’s own behavior. Then that will bring the positive affects to the person and lead the better performance in both personal growth and interpersonal interactions (Tangney, Baumeister, & Boone, 2004). According to Rachlin (1974), the individuals who have the self controlling behavior, like self-administration, will prefer larger rewards in their future, rather than having smaller rewards now.
