People play video games to have fun, make money, pass the time, or just to relax, an forget about what has gone wrong in their day. Some people play games all day without sleeping or eating, that’s how serious it is.
Many of those who criticize videogames do this by comparing them to books. This comparison is seen as injurious and incorrect to author Steven Johnson. He believes the two are separate from each other and should not be looked at as one in the same. In his essay “Games” he outlines and argues that reading and gaming are different from each other, that both should be valued in their own way, and that books are crafted for and are better at expressing knowledge and opinion.
So everyone knows what video game is, a game played by electronically manipulating images produced by a computer program on a television screen or other display screen. Do you not have many misconceptions about video games like “they are for kids, they do not require team work, they are all the same or nothing good ever comes out of video games” (The Crap Gamer,1). Approximately 90% of children in the United States play video games, and more than 90% of those games involve mature content that often includes violence (Park, 2014). Teenagers need to feel like they belong in their society, and will go to great lengths to avoid being isolated for not conforming and from being associated with a peer who is isolated. Sometimes, teenagers do not realize that people who have different personalities and are their own individual can still fit into society. Video games can help these teens realize that others are not criticizing or watching them 24/7. They should not care about what some select classmates think about them, and they need to understand that social norms are not static but are actually dynamic and
