My parents always hid financial details from me and my siblings to provide us a stress free environment. I never felt in need for something as far as I can remember, thanks to my parents. Until the time I started going to university my perspective changed a bit. On October 9 2017 I got an email from AUK warning me about the deadline of fees. I went to my parents to ask for their Visa card so that I can pay the next morning. The next morning I find the Visa card prepared next to the house door. I was in an excited mood while driving to AUK. I had to pay at least 50% of my semester tuition fees, around 1,700KD. It was not shocking news as I expected it to be in that range. However later on I wondered how my parents will manage with ease to start paying the same fees every semester but doubled. Yousef, my brother, studies at A.U.K is 23 years old now studies computer engineering. The age gap between us is 4 years, which means he should have graduated already. Instead he had his probation in 2015 which got him off track. It was a huge disappointment for my parents, specially when they had to find out about Yousif’s probation indirectly. They were warned warned from a dear Dr at AUK. I remember these days so well. It was tense, blue, boring days, where we all wondered …show more content…
Because it touched my heart seeing you suffer from the consequences. I heard you calling yourself a loser when Dana lectured you. Other than this is not true, I have learned a life lesson from you. I spent hours thinking, what could be done at the beginning to stop all of this. I learned that time management and decision making was Yousif’s best friend at that time. And he could eased things for himself when he back stepped every time whether telling my parents or just studying. Dr.Craig said better wait when ready to study rather than starting when not ready. This would have made Yousif’s life easier. Just if he waited till he is ready for
What happens when your son or daughter is a college freshman? “Getting Carded” by David Migoya tells the readers what exactly happens when your children come to college. “More than fifty-eight percent of college students said they saw credit-card marketers on campus for two or more days at the beginning of the semester, and eighty-seven percent of all students say they have a card, according to the U.S. Public Interest Research Group.” Credit cards are not a bad thing, but if used carelessly it can ruin your children’s future. “The worst problems come from overspending or maxing out credit limits—which typically are kept low to start—but from the fees associated with late payments or interest rates.”
My academic goals after I graduated from UC Irvine is to achieve a higher education beyond a Bachelor of Science in Public Health Sciences. I have set going to dental school as a primary goal after graduating. My goal is to eventually obtain a D.D.S (Doctor of Dentist Surgery) degree. Working towards a specialty is an interest that I am very curious in pursuing; however, as of now becoming a general dentist is my main goal. His original plan was to go into the Air Force and help work on and repair the equipment that they need to use. He changed his mind last minute and started working in restaurants around town. My mother did graduate high school, but she did not pursue anything once she did graduate. She also began working in restaurants. Because of their mistake of not pursuing a higher education, at home, school is one of our top priorities.
College is one of the most important and life changing times in the life of an American. Leaving high school behind and venturing out to the adult world is an amazing experience that every individual should experience. However, young adults from every corner of the country leave college with crippling debt or do not go to their preferred college of choice. College education should be cheaper as it will help families and students financially and give them the satisfaction with having the opportunity to go to their first choice for college.
Students in the criminal justice department are taught that our main objective in the justice system and our careers is to serve and also protect those involved in our community. For as long as I can remember, my goal in life has been to provide service by protecting and serving those who are close to me. My penchant for service is what eventually led me to the Criminal Justice program at Valdosta State University. This passion for service began at a very young age when my life was turned upside down when I relocated from Puerto Rico to the state of Georgia due to a tragic car accident that led to the end of my father’s life. This sudden change of lifestyle and heartbreak came with an extreme amount of struggle and culture shock not just

Since tuition has risen 3 times higher the rate of inflation in the past 10 years, this increase a student’s chances of not being able to afford higher education and also gives them a better chance of accumulating debt post-graduation. Some people think that the college education they acquired did not fit the amount they paid for it, even if they pulled out loans or were an ideal candidate for a scholarship. This is a scary fact because higher education can determine if you thrive

Society often believes college is a necessary experience for a better future, but I argue that the future will not be any better when student debt becomes a part of life for those who follow that mainstream belief. Most parents often dream of the great colleges and universities that their children will get accepted into; however, they fail to think of the cost to attend those institutions. Financial aids! Financial aids! Yes there are financial aids that students can apply to lessen the student debt.
In “College Pressures” by William Zinsser, leader of one of the residential colleges at Yale University, the author describes the different amount of pressures that students struggle with in college. Because of his position at the university, he constantly noticed the students around him and the anxiety that was radiating off them. He believes that economic pressures cause students to feel anxious about paying back student loans after college. However, parental pressure leads students to make decisions that their parents would be happy with because of the feeling of guilt and wanting to please them.

However, in the last few years I have realized that my passion for human rights advocacy is my natural calling which I am destined to pursue. The organization allows undergraduate students to engage with low-income and minority-owned small businesses to provide pro bono consulting services.
Academic success to me is achieving good grades and understanding the material to get good grades. Academic success also means to have an good attendance. I already get mostly A’s and B’s, but I am not good at staying on top of things. To improve my academic success I will attend class more often, be more organized, pay attention in class, and not procrastinate.
