To begin with the investigating section of my personal project written report, I should state and explain clearly my goal and global context first. Therefore, my topic is to learn how to play guitar and my specific and clear goal is ‘To learn how to play classical and fingerstyle guitar to a level where I can play 3 intermediate songs, like the song “Romance de Amor”, and perform next year at Tri - M night. In order to set this clear and descriptive goal, I had to choose a global context which is Personal and cultural expression. In my personal opinion, playing an instrument is an excellent way to express something that is in one’s mind. I would like to indicate that one’s mind is strongly related to his or her culture and personal experiences or feelings.
I have been playing and learning 2 instruments: piano for 9 years and cello for 6 years. It’s quite obvious for me that music takes a really big part of my life. This is the biggest reason why I wanted to learn another instrument for this project. Also, I’ve always admired people who play guitar and thought

In my opinion, playing songs applying the techniques and methods that I learned is extremely important to develop my skills. While I was doing my research on fingerstyle guitar playing, I found this secondary source (www.911tabs.com) created by anonymous people for the purpose of sharing individual’s music sheets of guitar, piano, bass, etc. Every type of music sheet of various musical instruments such as piano, bass, guitar, wind instruments and strings instruments are available there for free. A variety of levels, chords and styles is one of the most powerful advantages of this website. Despite of many benefits, I was able to find some limitations. I couldn’t find any tutorial videos of the song which was very important for me. To find the videos, I had to go to “youtube” but there wasn’t the same version of the
AVID is a program not intended for everyone. This program exposes you to a variety of skills and mastery for adolescents desiring to attend college. Avid focuses around organization, teamwork, and for you to critically think. These skills are new to many and are provenly beneficial, however these skills do not favor those that have already had these skills and are show casing their full potential. Therefore, Avid is not for me since it interferes with my academic courses, mastery of avid skills and would not be beneficial for me because I have gained much of the skills and would rather interfer than assist.
Music, although ubiquitous, has impacted me to a larger degree only recently. When I began to delve into the complexities of music and understand that playing guitar was not as simple as it seemed, it hypnotized me. I wanted the challenge of doing something that was infinitely complicated. I discovered a new passion, and I wanted to know every detail about it. The rising and swelling of the beat and the way you can dance with the notes to spin a masterpiece is vastly complicated, and yet so simple.
I don’t really like listening to normal music with no instruments. When there are instruments and no words it’s like you get to add the meaning to the song. When I play my instrument I feel like I’m sending a small message and contributing to the overall message the whole band wants the audience to hear. Music means a lot to me I can’t say it’s my world yet because I have a long way to getting
Musicians are “great problem solvers in school and social situations” because they have a stronger corpus callosum, the part of the brain that connects the two halves.(Berman) When an outsider joins band their minds are opened into a whole new world. This is because when a person is making music there is not only one place in the brain that is being activated. A musician is using parts of the brain that have to do with the visual, auditory, and motor functions of the brain. People who play a musical instrument are working multiple parts of their brain at once making it easier for them to remember information more.
My eyes automatically drifted to the tall bright palm tree that moved along with the rhythm of the wind. It’s leafs danced as they presented their welcome. The sun shined down and hugged me with warmth, giving my skin a tingling, but satisfying sensation. I had come from Virginia to California, the famous, constantly spoken of state, that finally reached my sight. The state presented its beautiful attributes to capture my wonder and mesmerization.
Studies have shown that learning how to read and play music, and even listening to music has an impact on the development of the brain. Music requires the use of both the left and right sides of the brain. After learning music I have noticed a change in the way I view music, my social skills and my thought processes. All of these things I believe are at least partially because of being in band and, they have all changed my life for the better After learning how to read and play music I noticed that I view, or should I say hear, music in a completely different way.
The Oxford Dictionary states the definition of harmony as, “The combination of simultaneously sounded musical notes to produce a pleasing effect.” While some people play pieces with an impeccable harmony, others are left with an unsavory note written into their score. Many are then unsure of what to do, and eventually just leave the note written in the score. “The composer knows best,” they think, leaving many, many people unsatisfied with their piece of sheet music. Ever since I can remember, I have been fascinated with music.
I will use this in my paper by using it as evidence when I explain that Spanish-language music affects the development of self-identity in a university setting where they are uncommon. It can help student balance their cultures and shape their
Final Draft We all have stories and memories tied to songs that have become a part of who are. Remember the violins playing in the background while watching a sad movie or the song that helped you through difficult times or the song you and your friends sang while attending a concert? Whether it’s on the television, the radio, in a movie, in the car, or at a sporting event, music is everywhere. Feeling the rhythm of music brings us so much joy and excitement but playing musical instrument is even more fulfilling because it has many benefits.
My life has been full of many opportunities to participate in things that I love and these opportunities have taught me fabulous lessons. Through my persistent hard work in the Clark high school marching band I have been very fortunate to learn important lessons about positivity, service and respect. Being in my high school’s marching band has drastically changed my life for the better. I would not have made it through all the curve-balls that school has thrown at me had it not been for the marching band, which taught me to find the positive in any and every situation. Working out and making countless mistakes in the scorching Texas heat does not seem like the ideal place to learn about positivity, however that is exactly what it is.
Music education provides personal benefits to students that enrich their lives. In the study of perceived benefits of music by Dimitra Kokotsaki and Susan Hallam, it was found that “participating in an ensemble enhanced feelings of self-achievement for the study’s participants, assisted individuals in overcoming challenges, built self-confidence, and raised determination to make more effort to meet group expectations regarding standards of playing” (12). In an ensemble, every member is equally important, from the first chair to the last chair. Thus every person must be able to play all of their music and be ready for anything. When one person does not practice their music and comes to rehearsal unprepared, it reflects upon the whole ensemble.
Music classes serve no purpose in schools and are essentially replaceable. This is because most adults either forget how to play their instruments or never use it in real life unless it’s part of a career or passion. What’s the use of knowledge that fades away and makes no contribution? A newrepublic.com editor surveyed adults who had
Reason to listen: I think it’s safe to say that all of you have listened to or heard music at one point of your life, but did you know music influences and manipulates us more than we know? III. Thesis Statement: Today I am going to tell you about an aspect of human culture that appears just about everywhere you go: music. IV. Credibility Statement: Being a big music lover, I was curious about how much music really affected me, and hence my research began.
Imagination can be developed when children are creating their own musical instruments as the child can discover the different sounds of different materials they use. Some children are appealed to music because of the variety of sounds the instruments can make. (Campbell et al, 2010). Music develops the artistic awareness, self-expression, self-growth, self-esteem and multicultural sensitivity which all forms part of the holistic development of the
Being a teacher is a journey that has much to do with learning about yourself and being aware that what happens in your classroom reflects only on how are you with yourself. Teachers are not conscious that they project into students, and that affects how things go in the classroom. I believe the first characteristic of a good teacher is that he/ she is always willing to analyze his/her teaching performance. Second the teacher is humble enough to receive input about the development and application of techniques, learning from it and improving.
