Throughout this semester I learned many things. One of the main sources that I learned from was from a book named: “How to Work a Room”. This book gave great me great potential scenarios that I could see myself in. The best part about this book was how within the book it gave me suggestions on how to fix the the wrong things I would naturally do into positive actions I can work on in the near future. My ultimate goal for my final event was to create a plan to help ensure I get the most out of it, and what I did to get a positive experience out of the event I went too. My final event that I went to was a Finance Career Workshop. For the first time ever before attending this event I did previous research on the event, so I could know what to …show more content…
Once, I had them down in my head I moved on to my next planning stage. My next planning stage was getting myself mentally ready for the event. After a while of mentally thinking about how the event was going to play out I began to feel prepared for the event. I packed all of my notes into my backpack for potential future references incase I blanked out at any given point, and I also got my business casual clothing ready for the next day when I would need to go to my event from 3-4 p.m. By the time night fell I finally mentally prepared to be at the Finance event the following day. Finally, it is the day of the event and I made sure to get there on time. I arrived to Douglass Hall by 2:55 to make sure I arrived on time, but I did not want to be the first one there either because It was going to make me feel somewhat uncomfortable if I was the first individual in the room with the professionals. When I walked in the designated room I was like the sixth person there, so it caught me off guard because I expected more people to be there, but at the same time it made me realized that with less people in the room I would have a greater chance to get the
This semester I also learned how to word rules with right way more and how to be specific with procedures. I made a mock classroom policy about a year ago and after that lesson I made modifications to it. I got excited because it was part of our discipline 2, and I got more feedback on which I need another eye to look at for me. I took the comments and made more to policy and proud of my end product.
I’m gonna talk about the book “Night” that we have read in class during the second term. The story has for setting the time period of the WWII, in Europe. The story is about Elie, a jew and his family that are facing a lot of struggles because of their religion. Over the course of the book, Elie changes from believing in God to not believe in God. This is important to the book as a whole because it connects to the internal conflict.
The self-assessment tests we had to take at the beginning of the semester reassured me that I was on the right path academically and career wise. I learned my interest areas are investigative and conventional match with my accounting career choice. My work values of achievement and relationships
Attending the Sandra Cisneros reading was a very pivotal moment for me. The closer I get to graduation, the more I think about what Im going to do with my life. Her speech motivated me in so many ways. What hit home for me the most is when she spoke about the loss of her father. She talked about how writing about her father was hard for her.
When I joined AVID in seventh grade I was amazed how AVID works and how it can be used every day. Not only AVID helps you with your grades, but it also helps you to be more organized and a hard-working student. AVID helped me discover my full potential by showing me that I can always do better. What I mean by this is that in sixth grade I was not in AVID, I made all A’s and B’s. In seventh grade when I was in AVID, I made all A’s.
The members were all clean, looked healthy and well kempt. I was expecting an entire different presentation from everybody in the room. When I walked into the room, there was a lady standing and greeting people as they walked in. She walked up to me and welcomed me, I didn’t have to explain why I was there or what I wanted. There was coffee and cookies at a table and the chairs were in the centre of the room.
About an hour later we made it in and found some seats. The first day was pretty relaxed since the meeting didn 't start until the afternoon. However, the next few days were full of four-hour lecture sessions and brilliant minds explaining their accomplishments and
Shadowing was a great opportunity for me. It provides students a general overview about a certain career such as working conditions and nature of work. On the 14th of November, I shadowed Dr. Azhar Bustami, a dentist on 10043 E Adamo Dr, Tampa, FL 33619. Dr. Azhar was very welcoming and supportive. She tried her best with explaining the advantages and disadvantages of working as a dentist.
The presentations provided me a great learning experience for me to teach and share what I know in a classroom setting while getting feedback. I felt more at ease with my second workshop in regards to the transition process/pathway to graduate school, as I was sharing my personal experience mixed with that of the facts and figures that I had research to give students a clear understanding of the process. With my future goals of becoming an advisor at a Community College for a first year experience (FYE) program, I am glad to put on my resume that I have started to gain experience teaching, as teaching a college prep course are the duties of advisors in FYE
Which involved them asking for help after my presentation, so that really was the only success. So I guess I can say that having and planning out these events did not work out for me very well. What worked for me this semester was the in class discussions because I was able to interact with the opinions and I was able to share my opinions. These discussions also made me feel that I was apart of the class and not just an empty voice in the front of the class.
and I was confident with my presentation. I have learned things in this short course that I will be able to effectively use the rest of my college career
The television show “Full House” takes place in San Francisco, California and was set in the late 1980s and into the mid 1990s. There are many main characters seen throughout this show, however for this paper the main focus is on Stephanie Tanner. Stephanie Tanner is the middle child of the three Tanner sisters. She tends to be the goofy, outgoing sister who tends to get in a lot of trouble while growing up. During this show she is either in elementary school, junior high, and early into high school.
Shadowing Reflection #1 One of the shadowing experiences that I want to reflect on is the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) Forum I attended on Wednesday, October 11, 2017. All the administrators participated, and they brought parents and school representatives to this forum.
M.H. Abrams’s The Mirror and the Lamp: romantic theories and the critical traditions is one of the most influential books in the field of western criticism. It was published in the year of 1953. The title of the book refers to the two contradictory metaphors used to portray the artist – one comparing the artist to a mirror which reflects nature as it is or perfected whereas the other compares the artist to a lamp that illuminates the object under consideration. Professor Abrams in his book illustrates the transition of the perspective of the theorists on the artist from one to the other and the ramifications of the latter in aesthetics, poetics and practical criticism. The essay “Orientation of critical theories” is the first chapter of this book.
College is full of experience and to get that experience students need to get involved in campus and use all the resources that their campus offer. For my first semester at university I learned lots of information that helped me go through my first semester and I will keep using this resources until I graduate. and these resources are not just for school but also for my personal life. The first thing I have learned in college is how to manage my time and it's important to know that skill so that I would not waste time doing nothing and get schoolwork done and it won’t make me stressful because I have many assignment and project to do. and to always get done with my priority first which is my school work.
