First, I would get familiar with what it means to have self-knowledge. In my opinion, I believe self-knowledge is having the ability to look at myself and become more familiar with what my weaknesses and strengths are. Learn about what and how you present yourself physically to others and how your posture or even your handshake will tell people about you. After understanding and learning these few things about myself, and I am in the presence of my team members for the first time. I will display confidence as I enter the room and towards the task that needs to be completed. Familiarizing myself with the project the team would work on, would help me bring myself across to the other team members as one who is knowledgeable about the different type of task the group may work on. I would not hesitate to contribute to the team discussions, and give some positive feedback. Last but not least I will not pretend like I know everything, but will be willing to learn from others and respect their views.
Empathy
Empathy is doing a self-examination about your behavior and emotions, and then consider how it may affect other people that you encounter and also those around you that you interact daily. First time interacting with my team members I will display empathy towards them and make sure that how they are treated are aligned with my moral values. Showing the members that I am able to recognize and comprehend their situation is also a key factor when meeting team members for the
Like what our strengths and weakness. So in the future team work, we can distribute the works more property. If everyone can handle their jobs well, as a whole our works are well. To know more about each other, and be more familiar with each other is very important before we start our works.
In my opinion, empathy takes some understanding of the situation that someone is going through. If we cannot understand the tragedies people face then we won't be able to empathize with them. Instead, we pity them for having to experience such a horrible life. Now days we say we understand people and their feeling, but we can never fully understand unless we go through the exact same situation. Authors like Maya Angelou can help shed some light on a terrible situation, but in the long run unless we face the same situation we will never be able to understand their pain.
In respect of this, I have challenged myself by chairing Core Groups and contributing at formal and informal meetings in an attempt to not only demonstrate professional leadership, but to contribute towards other professionals’ development. I have achieved this by speaking from a social work perspective, eg highlighting risks, grey areas, strengths and complicating factors, which is invaluable as professionals are unlikely to consider aspects in this way since they are trained to work within their own agenda. Another way in which I supported the learning and development of others is through the weekly ‘pod reflective’ meetings where I discussed the families on my caseload, pointed out my observations, what I have learned from all involved and talked about the effect of my interventions. Team meetings have also been an opportunity for me to reflect upon my colleagues’ cases, make unconsidered suggestions and encourage them with new ideas to move forward when they are
In the classroom I help those who need it if I have a complete understanding of the topic. If I don’t I will ask the teacher for help. When working in group projects I will usually take the lead and assign everyone a part to work on. Every so often I will check in to see that they are in fact getting their jobs done. My character and how people perceive me is another important topic to me.
Empathy is the ability to understand and share the feelings of another. To me the word empathy in “To Kill A Mockingbird” means “putting yourself in someone else’s shoes.” Harper Lee’s novel “To Kill A Mockingbird” suggests that empathy is a universal feeling, but everyone experiences it in different occasions and in different ways. Many people empathize through real life experiences. Scout is one of those people.
1-Get the other person’s attention before you begin communicating with them 2-Communicate clearly and directly so that you get your message across 3-Adapt the way you communicate to a service user’s needs so that they are able to understand you 4-Use empathy to try and understand the other person’s needs, point of view or the way they might be affected by what you are saying to them
1.1 Introduction In today’s environment, the ownership is on us, as an individual to take responsibility for our own development, rather than expecting our organization to do it for us. The question, which always ponders over mind is does my personal skills suits to today’s dynamic world? If not, how do I move forward? Hence, the starting point is to introspect, retrospect and do an evaluation through self-assessment tools in order to know myself, strengths and limitations and my ability to perform in dynamic roles in the business environment.
At our first few meetings, team building was key. In an effort to overcome the initial shyness, we took the time to understand and get to know our fellow team members; in doing so, establishing a welcoming and encouraging environment for everyone to share their ideas whist too ensuring everyone felt appreciated. Getting the team to gel was essential for the team to get results. We met at regular intervals, usually weekly, to discuss and reassess our progress. However, finding the time to meet proved quite difficult, between everyone’s busy schedules and with the plenty of other assignments we all had going on simultaneously.
Build your own competence first. Then, help, encourage, and fill in as many gaps as you can. Maintaining the trust of your team members as you do this is crucial. You should aim for the achievement of the goal and put personal benefit on the back burner for everyone to trust you and allow you to lead. Share credit, encourage, and provide genuine praise
It is also key to be aware what we are or are not capable of in our work. It is important to continue to grow and develop personally and professionally. This is an ongoing process throughout our lives. According to Day, Halpin & Zaccaro, 2004, (cited by Share & Lalor, 2009, p123) for ‘self-development to occur, a person needs to become aware of his/her internal processes {thoughts, feelings, moods, beliefs and actions} and have an awareness of how these internal processes impact on others as an external process’. Self-awareness and self-development work hand in hand with one another, as do personal and professional development.
My Self-Concept My self-concept includes a number of different adjectives and roles, these include both good and bad things. The adjectives I use to describe myself are as follows: kind, loyal, selfish, hard working, apathetic, practical, honest, occasionally rude, and procrastinator. As for the roles that I fill, I am a son, a brother, a friend, a student, the oldest son, and a teacher. Self-concept is a product of many things, it is not just simply what a person is.
Evolve into Having Self-Awareness Being self-aware simply means that you have a keen understanding of your own personality. That includes your positive and negative traits, your thoughts and beliefs, your feelings, and your inspiration. It would be easier for you to understand others when you are self-aware. You will also be able to tell how they see you in return. Most people believe that they have a good sense of self-awareness, but it would be best to check at a comparative scale to see where you fall on it in contrast with others.
I have always hated writing about myself, and I always dreaded assignments in school where I had to describe myself. I always wanted to avoid doing these assignments because I did not want to sound narcissistic, or self-absorbed. I dislike people like that now, because I used to be one of those people. It took many lessons learned before I humbled myself; I am still learning to humble myself today with recent experiences I have had. Although I hate to write about myself, I have always liked to reflect on myself.
Most people want to improve themselves in some way, whether it is to lose weight or give up smoking or increase their confidence. Self-improvement is something that we carry out over a life time, but it is a task that can require a lot of motivation. Keeping your motivation levels up and steady can be a job in itself. In order to achieve the motivation required for self-improvement, we need to look at the three keys that will help us succeed in our goals. 1) INSPIRATION
