While we cannot control the rainfall, we are compelled to conserve and create water. There is a pond that I pass by every day when I drive to school. Through the last five years, it has greatly decreased in size and what was once green foliage surrounding it is now withered. This visual reminder reminds me to think carefully about how others and I use and waste water. While the Rainmaker is a great solution to the drought, there are steps that Californians can take to reduce their water consumption.
In order to not abuse our resources and diminish the environments we interact with, it requires strict control. There are some actions that have become a standard for most developed countries; recycle, reuse, compost, etc. These actions do contribute to a greener picture; however, they alone are not enough to live true to my world view. It is difficult to follow my world view and so I began with small changes that overtime will make a difference and perhaps encourage me to make the stricter choices to live more suitably to my worldview. I limit my showers to ten minutes every other day to lower my water consumption, I have removed meat from my diet, and am conscious about the amount of electricity I use.
Foresight is a skill I use everyday to help me prepare for unexpected events by saving money and to practice skills that I think might be useful for me in my future. Not using Foresight also isn’t used by everyone and is what causes fear for many in modern day society and long ago for Elie’s family when they could have left their home and never had to experience anything they did, but instead chose to stay out of the fear of
Cyprus ' tree rings give evidence that during that settlement attempt there was a severe drought in motion and would have made settling there close to impossible. Growing and maintaining an adequate food supply would be difficult and fruitless. These new findings have revamped the support for dwindling food supply as the cause of the settler 's disappearance and have captured the attentions of historians, who previously did not consider climate conditions a variable in the disappearances. William Steven 's article provides another variable to consider when researching Roanoke Island and gives the reader tangible evidence to support the low food supply theories. I also should have done better notes and study more, I did not study a single time, even though I always got over a 90% and a 95%, if I studied, I could have gotten all 100% I don 't think that my teacher needed to do anything to better help me master the concepts taught in this quarter. I like my teacher’s teaching style. He gives us work and we just have to do it quietly. I like this because in college most of the time we will do that and I’m being trained for
Government will make more money, families will be less stress free and won’t have to try and survive paycheck to paycheck. Oh, and schools will have to enforce a harder curriculum which will hopefully actually challenge student, and help them in the long run. Schooling already takes up a big portion in people's life. Why not reduce the number of years these kids have to sit in a desk and “learn.” People need to quit complaining about “more education” when there are people dying cancer everyday. These kids will learn what it takes to make it in the real world without college.
However, they are not teaching us things that we would have to learn from experience later in our lives. They are not focused on teaching us what to expect when we reach the age of adulthood, they are focused on teaching us about the subjects appointed by the Department of Education (DOE). This is the issue we face every day with the school system because although it is great to have a better understanding in these subjects, they should also focus on teaching us how to prepare for the real world. I strongly believe that they should be teaching us how to save money, how to be a better candidate for a job application, and how we are are going to need to be independent. Education should not just be about our academics or else we will never get anywhere.
Instead we both put up a wall and decided to not communicate. The Perception Checking technique would have allowed me to recognize that I don’t know everything and it would have allowed the team member to recognize the same. There were things I could have done to be a better leader because leadership requires constant improvement. The Perception Checking technique would have also allowed both of us to realize that our initial assumptions and reactions are not always effect. A phone call a week after the event to discuss what could be improved on both ends would have been more effective than a late night upset text
I became a lifeguard at age 16 because I love helping people. Honestly at first I wanted to be a lifeguard for the money but now it's become more about keeping people safe than my paycheck. Sure it’s boring when you sit on the stand for hours at a time, but I will myself to stay focused even with my ADD because I know at any moment, someone’s life could depend on my ability to act. My job is tedious sometimes, but when you
Environmental issues began to be discussed and debated only towards the end of the 20th century. Since then significant amount of literature has been penned down raising awareness about issues of pollution, deforestation, animal rights and several others however it has failed to result in major changes, ideas or even actions to save the environment. Several species of animals have become extinct; pollution level is at an all-time high, global warming is leading to severe climate changes all across the globe but these problems do not seem to alarm the decision makers. Leydier & Martin (2013) also states that, “despite the increasing expression of concern in political and media debates about issues such as climate change, pollution and threats
