The first amendment of the Constitution guarantees certain rights to citizens. It guarantees the freedom of religion, freedom of the press, freedom of speech, freedom to petition, and freedom of assembly. These five freedoms are part of what makes our country so great. The freedom of religion grants citizens to practice whatever religion they please.
The First Amendment is the most important, because of freedom of religion and freedom of speech. Many people think that the fourth amendment is the most important. They think this, because it is important for a person to be able to tell policemen “No” if they ask you if they could search your car or your house. I believe that the fourth amendment is really important, but you wouldn’t be able to tell the policemen “No” if you didn’t have freedom of speech. George Washington said,”If the freedom of speech is taken away then dumb and silent we may be, like sheep to the slaughter” (“Famous Quotes Freedom of Speech”).Without freedom of speech and religion we are nothing.
The Importance of the 1st Amendment In 1787 our founding fathers assembled the constitution of the United States of America. Of this which contains the most important document to the American citizen, the Bill of rights. The first Amendment states: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances” These freedoms granted by the Bill of Rights are often known as freedom of expression. These rights are most important to a truly free society. The first amendment provides us with new ideas and dismisses the fear of punishment
You hold a petition or go against a religion BAM!! DEATH. This would be the mayhem without the first amendment. ”Where the press is free and every man is able to read, all is safe.” says Thomas Jefferson on the first amendment. The first amendment, the 5 freedoms granted to everyone, has a meaning and purpose in everyone's day to day life and will forever have an enduring impact on life in the USA.
The Second Amendment protects the right of people to keep and bear arms. This amendment was a controversial among different people in the government. It was between letting the people keep their weapons or to not let the people keep their weapons. This amendment was important to the framers of the Constitution because it provided the country with a well-regulated militia. The Second Amendment states "A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
The first amendment may seem like something that is generally understood among all of those who use it, but this may not be the case. While most citizens of the United States of America would certainly say that they understand and can comprehend what the first amendment means, an underlying lack of knowledge, upon what is presumed to be the most important of all the amendments, can still be discovered. “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people to peaceably assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” The specific piece of the first amendment that is particularly important
The first amendment is very important for United State citizens. Freedom of speech is one of the most important rights. Freedom of speech grants us rights to say what we want without getting in trouble with the law. This law is important because it allows us to express our opinions. Freedom of religion is another right that is very important.
The freedom of speech is important because it gives us the ability to express our thoughts and opinions. (Cite) Magazine editor, Rachael Jolley said, “ Free speech has always been important throughout history because it had been used to fight for change. When we talk about rights today they would not have been achieved without free speech. Think about a time from the past-women not being able to vote, or the terrible working conditions in the mines- free speech is important as it has helped change these things.” Most people take the freedom of speech for granted because they do not realize how privileged we are to have
All five freedoms are very important, but I believe the freedom of speech is the most important. Freedom of speech allows us to speak our mind. It`s the very foundation on what our government runs on. It`s also not healthy to keep our emotions bottled up inside. Free speech allows us to say what we want when we are emotional, which is also very
The 1st amendment says that people have right to freedom of speech, freedom of press, freedom of assembly and the right to petition against the government. This proved that they would not let their government stop them from voicing their opinions and trying to change how their government ran if they did not agree. These rights were necessary for all to continue tolerating their government and agree with the rights that were being
Two years ago, in June of 2008, the Supreme Court ruled in District of Columbia v. Heller that District of Columbia’s law which banned its citizens from keeping a handgun in their home violated the Second Amendment, which protects the right of the people to keep and bear arms. When looking back on this case, it must be noted that the Supreme Court did not clearly define whether or not the Second Amendment applied to the States, since the District of Columbia is a federal territory, run solely by Congress. Fast forward to today in Oak Park, which is a suburb of Chicago, they have laws in place that ban almost all citizens from possessing a handgun. Otis McDonald, Adams Orlov, Colleen Lawson, and David Lawson filed a suit against the city, stating this ban has left them without a proper tool for self-defense against criminals, and that it violates their Second and Fourteenth Amendment rights.
The First Amendment states, “Congress shall make no law abridging the freedom of speech.” Freedom of Speech helps those who need help and can ask the public without worry of getting in trouble. This amendment was included in the Constitution because now people e the right to advertise their work to others and have protests to things that they believe is right for the country. The amendments were important to the framers of the Constitution. The Freedom of Speech was important to the framers because of, “its diffusion of liberal sentiments on the administration of Governments.”
Freedom of speech is also protected, that means we can say we want. TheFreedom of the press means that news services can investigate and report the news lacking government power. This aids we have connection to better advice and information from several views. Freedom of Assembly defends our right to gather peacefully. The right to petition means that we can make need and requests of our government.
All are important to the people's rights to freedom of expression for all. And in my opinion the most important of freedom is Freedom of Speech.
The fact that one has the right to say and believe is the foundation for democracy to function. If no one dared to say their opinions, then it had become a dictatorship where only one opinion on how society and the country should work had been the “right”. If people dared to express their opinions, they will help improving the society one lives. Freedom of speech gives one the responsibility to consider what fits into different contexts, and it will make us better persons and people. Simply, people will feel safe in the society they live in.
