The word, “Emotion”. It is something that we all know and has experienced it no matter how old we are. In general, we’ll face 2 types of emotions. Negative and Positive. Negative emotions are the emotions that causes you to feel miserable or depressed. Positive emotions are the emotions that can “cheer” you up in any scenario to help you go on, or the feelings you’ll feel when you’re with your loved ones. Before I signed up for this course, I honestly thought that being a counsellor was easy. Simply being a listening ear, and giving a few words of advice and that was it. It has been about five weeks since we have started, and my insight on counselling has changed and I realised the major impact that a counsellor plays in this world. A counsellor sets asides their personal time, to help their clients with the hurdles that they face, which includes the negative and stressful feelings of the client. Being a counsellor means that they’re able to help and talk to the client, to view things from a different view point which allows the client to then shift their focus onto having a positive change, by focusing on more important things, such as their experiences, thoughts, feelings and behaviour and talking to them in ways that the client can’t when speaking to their family or friends. Presuming if I had somebody like that, or rather I had approached and asked help from someone like that, it would have probably turned out differently and I probably would have been a better person then the one I am now. In addition, there’s a confidential agreement included which means the things that are mentioned, between the client and counsellor all stays between them unless, the client mentions that for instance, he’s
