There are lot of new things and knowledge I have learnt throughout the process of completing this coursework project. The most vital aspect that I learnt from was the selection and adaption of materials to suit my pupils’ needs. Allwright (1990) argues that materials should teach students to learn, that they should be resource books for ideas and activities for instruction and learning, and that they should give teachers rationales for what they do. Allwright emphasizes that materials control learning and teaching. Therefore, materials are the centre of instruction and one of the most important influences on what goes on in the classroom. One of the tasks in the coursework is the designing of lesson plan for a 60-minute lesson based on the KSSR syllabus and we have to adapt, design and exploit the teaching and learning materials for the lesson planned. Planning and designing a lesson is not a new area of learning to us as we have been to practicum phase for two consecutive semesters. The video itself was able to catch the pupils’ attention and the song also has its own ability to make my pupils started singing it without having me giving them instruction. It must be because the song was really suitable to pupils’ level of understanding. After all, the weakness of the video song was that the song was repetitive and took a longer time. So, pupils spent more time to watch the video than to actually sing and make the actions. But the opportunity of this material is there where I can made use of this song as a set induction to any suitable lesson because the song included some actions in which can warm up and cheer up my pupils. The threat to this material is that if I am posted to school that does not has the equipment like LCD projector, I would never be able to use this as my teaching
