Religious Ethics: The Nature Of Ethics And Morality

People, in the current society, are so hectic with their own issues on relations, money, and survival that they gradually forget to slow down and consider matters such as ethics and morality. Though being long forgotten, the nature of ethical standards and morality derived from religion, fortunately, remains preserved. Ethics is the body of principles that helps to determine which actions are right or wrong. Instead of focusing on the moral values of an individual action, ethics focuses on examining the courses of several options and to finally make a decision. On the other hand, morality has a different concept. At some extent, morality may be thought of as standards established or existed before one is born or brought to the world. Usually, it is evaluated on a standard of what the society approves of accepted behavior. The two philosophies may seem analogous; however, they differ from many perspectives and each has its own advantages and disadvantages. Mistakenly regarded as the same idea, ethical standards and religious morality come to different ends. Ethical standards are ones that evaluate a person’s behavior and decide whether it is proper conduct while religious morality, at some point, existed at a point of time.
