I agree women were beneath men is many aspects. During the Renaissance women were not viewed as equals. It was a male dominated society. The expectations and restrictions placed on women was much higher though they were denied the right to live independently. They also had major responsibilities. They were expected to tend to their husband their children and home. They were able to obtain jobs. Their jobs however consisted of working in fields and businesses that hired or were own by their husbands. This meant that for women during this time their option was working with or for their spouse or becoming nuns. The unmarried women also had restricted freedom they were not allowed to live with freely. Single women had live with male relatives
