CChapter 3 Research Methodology 3.1. Introduction The research methodology is defined as the way of systematically solving the research problem (Cone and Foster, 1993, Rajasekar, et al, 2013 and Kothari, 2004). It may also be understood as a science of studying how research is done scientifically. In this part, the process, tools, ways of doing activities and sources, subjects of study and the processes of producing the end outcome were discussed. 3.2. Operational Definition of Variables As it is indicated in the chapter one, the main aim of this study is to assess the administrative challenges of the investment incentives in ERCA: the case of Addis Ababa Kality Customs Branch Office. Specifically, the objectives tried to achieve in this study are, the effects of legal and administrative frameworks on the administration of investment incentives; the …show more content…

Sample Size and Sampling Techniques Israel (2013) proposed several approaches to determining the sample size. These include using a census for small populations, imitating a sample size of similar studies, using published tables, and applying formulas to calculate a sample size. It’s also argued by many statisticians that the minimum sample is better to be not less than 100. Therefore, as it’s indicated above, the total populations of this study is 106, which almost near to minimum sample size. As a result census method is chosen for this study. This method has various advantages as compared to sampling method. Regarding this, Israel (2013) states that, although cost considerations make this impossible for large populations, a census is attractive for small populations (e.g., 200 or less). A census eliminates sampling error and provides data on all the individuals in the population. In addition, some costs such as questionnaire design and developing the sampling frame are fixed. Virtually, the entire population would have to be sampled in small populations to achieve a desirable level of
