Afterall, fisherman only do it to spice up the story because who likes a boring story, and it wouldn’t be a fishing story if the size of the fish wasn’t exaggerated. Every group has its bad batch of people that make the rest of the group look bad as a whole, and the fisherman group is no exception to this truth. While fisherman aren’t all perfect, there still more to them to a few bad stereotypes. For example, fisherman do a lot more than just sit all day because
Beaches, docks, and other shallow, oxygen-rich areas provide a suitable habitat for the clams. Because of this, Asian clams greatly impact swimming areas since their sharp shells can cause injuries among swimmers. Also located in shallow areas of lakes, typically, are water intake systems, which Asian clams also have the tendency to clog and ultimately destroy. Since the town of Lake George 's main drinking water source is the lake, this creates a huge issue. The clams also clog water intake systems in private boats and homes, costing owners hundreds of dollars to fix.
However, mercury evidently was lost during the mining process, and ended up either flowing to the downstream environments, leaking into underground soil or bedrock. Small mercury particles were often floating on the top of the water for miles past the mining sight. Mercury was the quick fix that settlers were looking for. However, this quick fix caused a life-time of destruction, mercury found its way not only contaminating the water supply and soil but through the food chain. More often found on the wildlife and vegetation, especially in the tissues of fish in the rivers, thus causing serious health issues to humans eating high amounts of fish.
A large part of the driving force behind my interest in both Catawba’s environmental degrees and the Environmental Stewards Program is frustration. All too often it seems like people don’t stop to consider the impact their actions can make on the surrounding environment. Well water in neighborhoods similar to my own is poisoned by new developments that spray chemicals in order to obtain the “perfect lawn,” power companies bulldoze entire areas of forests along creeks and rivers with no regard for the destruction of those waterways and the species that depend on them, and those same new developments I’ve mentioned inevitably doom themselves by increasing severe flooding. My goal is to research and raise awareness about issues while helping the
They are actually close to extinction. This is because people are going deep-ocean trawling. This means that a net is being drug along the ocean floor, sadly the blobfish gets scooped up as well, and even though it is often tossed back into the ocean, by then it is already too late. In 2006, nature conservationists from all over the world gathered to propose the restriction of bottom trawling on the high seas, but were unable to reach an agreement, leaving the fate of the helpless blobfish greatly uncertain, especially since the deep trawling fishing fleets of Australia and New Zealand are very active, and the blobfish isn’t found anywhere else in the world. The blobfish has become famous because it has been called “cosmetically challenged”.
Intro: Water pollution has caused so many problems to our waterways that no one really knows how to help. Water pollution caused; dead zones, oil spills, garbage floating around, and unsafe drinking water. People disagree about water pollution because, people have found ways to improve and help out the problem that water pollution has caused around the world. Others believe that that water pollution has created situations and are in the process of figuring out solutions. Marine life habitats are getting destroyed, marine life is declining everyday, how and where the garbage is getting into the oceans, and the drinking water is becoming seriously unsafe to drink.
The devastation caused by Nevado Del Ruiz was unimaginable and horrific. However, even the rescue relief made available and the government’s lack of support made the aftermath much worse for Armero. A few things that made everything much worse were: Accessing the number of survivors- because of the mudflow many people were spread throughout the town, and many were still under the mud not yet discovered (National Academy of Sciences, 2015). Along with counting the number of survivors, identifying the dead also became a serious problem, because of the lack of documents and some people were still entombed in the mud (National Academy of Sciences, 2015). Clean water became another hindrance in helping this town recover, there was a short supply for drinking but most of the town required large amount to wash off the mud from survivors and the injured (National Academy of Science, 2015).
This played a key part in the reasons for colonist dying. The drinking water was brackish which means it was very salty so people got sick as they drank it. On top of that, the river was also dirty. This is because the tides from the Chesapeake Bay backed up the water, causing the garbage that was dumped in the river to do nothing but float back to the settlement. Another problem was drought.
To those residing on the eastern coast near Maryland, Virginia, and Pennsylvania, the problem of the Chesapeake Bay is obvious. The bay lacks water clarity, has difficulties sustaining aquatic life, and faces population threatening issues like dead zones and algae blooms. There are a myriad of ways in which the bay is polluted, however the most direct link to the bay’s poor water clarity is the overflowing amounts of nutrient and sediment pollution. Bay clarity is crucial, not only for a pretty appearance, but also for the health of the bay grasses and fish living in the bay. Sediment and nutrient pollution is a huge contributor to the poor water quality in the bay.
All of the loneliness causes the monster to become unhappy, and because of this a lot of people die. People in the novel don´t understand that he has good intentions. At one point the monster was trying to save a young girl from drowning. ¨ ´She continued her course along the precipitous river, when suddenly her foot slipped, and she fell into the rapid stream.´ ¨ (101) Even though Victor had many citizens mistreat he did not let the girl drown. ¨ ´I followed speedily, I hardly knew way; but when the man saw me draw near, he aimed a gun, which he carried, at my body, and fired.´ ¨ (101) Ultimately he was punished for his good
Many find it hard because the speaking style causes it to be hard to comprehend what the author is trying to express through the characters words. Another reason people find it hard to understand the text is understanding Jim’s simple mind. Jim is uneducated so it is very hard to convey what he is trying to say. One of the best examples of this is when the two were traveling in the canoe down the river and they spot a frame house floating in the river. They paddled over to it and entered noticing furniture thrown across the house, and a lifeless body laying on the ground where Jim says "It 's a dead man.
