The crimson war in 1854 was a significant time for the modernisation of nursing. Influential physicians such as Florence nightingale and Mary Seacole drastically changed the way that nursing was implemented in hospitals due to the experimentation of how to conduct basic nursing care and vast array of new nursing knowledge they accumulated through legible statistical findings, (Huntley 1993).
Mary Seacole born in 1805, is known for undergoing many prejudice throughout her career but demonstrated resilience and determination to be able to carry out duties taught to her by her Jamaican mother.
