Grease is a musical about teens in love in the ’50. More specifically about Danny and Sandy who are in love. The show starts out with the school year beginning once again, as Danny and new student Sandy retell their summer love through song. They soon realize that
It proves that the Greasers care and love each other because they are like a family. Also, the Greasers protect themselves while protecting others. When Ponyboy was being drowned, Johnny saves him by killing Bob. Johnny said “I killed him.
She realizes that
A Greaser’s appearance unites them together, and makes them feel like
Along the way his friends in the Greaser community help Ponyboy through tough times he experiences. In the greaser community the Greasers provide food and shelter for each other because most of them don’t have a lot of money to support themselves. The rival gang The Socs have lots of money and have nice homes and cars. The Socs usually bully the Greasers.
This inspired Ponyboy and his unique aspects of life, alongside the rest of the greasers.
Ponyboy feels that both gangs are actually very similar, but no one is able to accept each other for who they are so they judge each other on clothing, hair, smell, and even just the way they talk. The greasers live on the east side of Oklahoma. Their lifestyle is different because the greasers live outside of the town and don't have as much money
The members are judged based on their gangs and are viewed differently due to their wealth. Ponyboy, the protagonist, and Johnny are part of the greasers. The two teens get caught up in a murder and leave their town. After this,
Grease is a romantic-comedy-musical, set in the 50’s, telling the story of two summer sweethearts who met at the beach but are separated by the return of school.
In particular, the Ponyboy, Dally, and Johnny showed their love for stealing and making fun of others when they went to the store to hang out before watching the movie. Ponyboy states, “We bought Cokes and blew straws at the waitress and walked around eyeing things that were lying out in the open until the manager got wise to us and suggested we leave” (19). Somebody who believes that the Greasers are dishonorable would say that this proves how disrespectful the Greasers are to others excluding people among themselves. However, the Greasers actually are honorable because they do respect others outside of their gang. Specifically, they showed respect and care for other people when they chose to risk their own lives to save the kids in the church.
The Socs and the Greasers are alike because all of the boys are teens but Darry. Also, all the boys like to fight. Furthermore, they all get into troubles. They are all exclusive a particular area, and all the members are from little families which they do not have strong parents. They were different because the Greasers were poorer than the Socs.
Had they not loathed each other that much and just ignored the status symbol, they would have lived serenely to reach their adulthood. Had they tried to open up to the greasers (Ponyboy, Johnny, Dally and Two-Bit), they would have realised greasers are ordinary teenagers too. Cherry Valance and Marcia, in spite of their Socs identities, portray openness and acceptance towards the greasers. Subsequently, they comprehend not all greasers are dirty and uneducated; and Cherry, especially, learns about the adversities in a greaser’s life. We never know who we can learn something
Hairspray is a musical which stars a good natured overweight teenage who helps integrate the races in a popular teen dance show, the Corny Collins Show, in segregated Baltimore. It focusses on racism and segregation in the 60’s, but has the underlying theme of equality for everyone in spite of their race, class, sexual orientation, gender or outward appearance. Tracy Turnblad, an overweight teenager, finally gets a spot on the “Corny Collins Show”, a teen dance show she has always dreamt of being on. She is disturbed when she finds out the “Negroes” are allowed to dance on the show occasionally. She fights for integration despite being bullied and mocked.
They find out that even though they seem very different on the
