What will happen to you if you stepped of the tail of your pet wolf? Your pet cat has been out of the wild for hundreds of generations, yet it still has the instincts to hunt. Never Cry Wolf by Farley Mowat is a non-fiction story about naturalist Farley Mowat, on an expedition to find out why so many caribou were being killed. Mowat’s superiors believed that wolves were killing the caribou. He spent almost a year investigating the wolves’ way of life focusing on a small pack made up of two males and a female with her pups. Mowat camped near their den and observed their eating and hunting habits. He observed that wolves rarely ate caribou and when they did, it was the weak and sick ones. Also, with the help of Ootek, a local Eskimo he was able to understand how wolves communicate and hunt, and he saw that these wolves were not a tremendous threat to the caribou.
The gray wolf 's expressive behavior is more complex than that of the coyote and golden jackal, as necessitated by its group living and hunting habits. While less gregarious canids generally possess simple repertoires of visual signals, wolves have more varied signals which subtly inter grade in intensity. When neutral, the legs are not stiffened, the tail hangs down loosely, the face is smooth, the lips untensed, and the ears point in no particular direction. Postural communication in wolves consists of a variety of facial expressions, tail positions and piloerection. Aggressive, or self-assertive wolves are characterized by their slow and deliberate movements, high body posture and raised hackles, while submissive ones carry their bodies low, sleeken their fur and lower their ears and tail.

In Africa, a village of the name Sankuyo earned $600,000 from the 120 animals that were allowed to be victims of trophy hunting(Onishi). Without trophy hunting, there will not be as much money owned by these African villages and the villages will slowly decline to poverty. To add to this argument, lions have been seen entering the villages, where the ban has been placed, to find food because they would normally eat the elephant carcusses left by trophy hunters. The people of these villages are claiming to be poisoning those animals who trespass in order to save their own crops. Are humans really that much more important than these innocent animals?

In 1985, these owls were considered endangered based on the survey that was done. Since they have a small breeding population and limited distribution they are considered endangered. The nesting differs from male to female because of the egg incubation. The females lay four to seven white eggs in the bowl shaped nest. Each nest is located in tall grass to help protect them.
