Hall-Mills Murder
The Hall-Mills murder the unsolved murder of Reverend Edward W. Hall and choir singer Eleanor Mills. Guess God did not want these two souls on this Earth anymore. The couple was found dead by a local apple orchard in New Brunswick, New Jersey. The murderer has not yet been identified and may never be identified. The mystery behind the Hall-Mills murder can be summed up in two theories, the first one being that Mr. Hall’s wife, Frances Hall, killed the couple alone. The second one is that Mrs. Hall had help when she committed the murder. The Hall-Mills murder occurs on September, 17th 1922. The victims are “Edward Wheeler Hall, age 41, and Eleanor Mills, 34”(Crimes of the 20th century 91). The two are found dead outside an orchard outside the small town of New Brunswick, New Jersey. The victims have both been shot with a .32 mm pistol. Mr. Hall had a bullet hole in his head and Mrs. Mills had been shot three separate times. Hall has help committing the murder. The speculation and little evidence state that Mrs. Hall as well as her brothers and cousin help in the murder of the late Mr. Hall and Mrs. Mills. Mrs. Hall’s brothers are Willie and Henry Stevens and the speculated cousin is Henry Carpenter (“Katz 13”). A .32 mm bullet hole has been found in the murder victims. Now Willie Stevens owns a gun that holds that kind of bullet also Henry Stevens is an exhibition marksman (“Katz 13”). SO both brothers have easy accessibility to the murder weapon. While Mr.Hall and Mrs.Mills affair was a secret, there are many theories about what really happened to them and why. On Sunday, November 13, 1842 a double murder occurred at Smith Farm in Old Fields, Long Island. The victims, Alexander Smith and and Rebecca Smith, were a wealthy, well- respected married couple who ran Smith farm. George Weeks, the Smiths farmhand, was reporting for work the monday after the murder and heard the dog barking from the work-shed by the Smiths house. George Weeks then became suspicious since the dog was usually inside with Mr. Smith. George then looked in the house and saw that the east room window was broken and Mr. and Mrs. Smith were lying on the floor covered in blood.
