Selena Quintanilla Périez was a mexican American who loved to sing. It all started when her dad made a band for her brothers and her sisters called Selena Y Los Dinos, they started playing live at her father's restaurant .She often referred to as the queen of Tejano because she won so many awards for it. Her life was filled with friends, family, and fans who supported her, through her rough times and her good times.Unfortunately on March 31, 1995 it all came to an end.

But, that all changed when she started to become popular among Tejano music fans. Leading her to win “best female vocalist of the year” and “performer of the year” at the Tejano Music Awards. In the 90s her album named “Ven Conmigo” was the first Tejano album to reached gold selling over five hundred thousand copies. In, 1993 when went on to win a Grammy for “best Mexican American album”. The following year she released another album which was called “Amor Prohibido” that also went gold. With these achievements, this made Selena the first women to achieve huge success in Tejano and the first Tejano artist to win a Grammy award and have albums go gold. After achieving so much success in Tejano music Selena wanted to crossover to American music. She started recording the album “Dreaming of you” but sadly she did live to see her album success. They noticed that money was missing from the boutique and they knew that Saldivar took the money. Later that month, Selena went to meet Saldivar at a hotel because she thought Saldivar was going to pay her back the money she owed. When she realized it was a trap, it was too late. Employees noticed Selena running away but was fatally shot with a bullet that pierced through her lung.
