Selena Quintanilla cherished her fans and she loved performing. She was a very successful young lady. She won Best Female Vocalist, an award she would dominate for the rest of her life. She was married to Chris Perez. Sadly Selena died March 31, 1995, she was shot by Salvador her Fan Club president.
Early life
Selena was born Selena Quintanilla was born on April 16, 1971 in Lake Jackson Texas. She was in a vocal group when she was 9, started by her father, Abraham Quintanilla. Abraham took Selena out of school when she was in the eighth grade because of how her singing and career was going , at 17 she earned a high school diploma by American school program. There were 61,041 people at her last performance (Houston Astrodome) before she died. Selena y Los Dinos was named 3rd best dressed group in 1994. In 1989, Jose Benar, Former head of CBS discos, signed Selena with Emi Latin. Selena turned down a movie project with a leading role, since she had to do a few steamy scene. Her provocative way of dressing was her limit of being sexy. Her actual last performance was made a few days before her death for a children’s charity. Right before Selena died Chris bought 10 acres of land so they can raise horses and build their own house.
Murder
In early 1995, the Quintanilla’s discovered that Yolanda Salvador was embezzling money from the fan club and decided to fire her. Yolanda asked Selene to meet her in the Days Inn Motel, so she agreed. Selena was shocked to see Salvador pull out a pistol from her purse, she tried to run from Salvador but she was shot in the shoulder severing an artery. She ran to the lobby calling for help.
