College sports are a multibillion-dollar industry that brings millions of fans in to watch their favorite teams or athletes play. Collegiate sports have always played a significant role in the U.S., and the debate as to whether college athletes should be paid or not has been ongoing for years. While many people believe that athletes should be paid for their hard work, as well as the significant amount of money they bring into the schools, many people also believe that they should not be paid. The average college athlete will put in 4-9 hours a day and that means in a week they can put in about 25-65 hours a week depending on if they slack off or never stop trying to improve themselves. Athletes put in so much time and effort into their sport that they don't have time to have a job especially if they’re also taking a decent amount of classes. This makes it so that if a college athlete is not able to become a professional athlete for any reason, their future is basically doomed. This can cause the lives of the player, and his or her family financially and mentally. However, if these college athletes got paid, at least they would have some funds to work off of to support themselves.
