Theodore Robert Cowell was born on Nov 24th, 1946 in Burlington, Vermont. More commonly known as "Ted", he was one of the most prolific serial killers in America. He confessed to 36 murders, but nobody really knows how many had been committed or when he began his killing spree. Many speculate that there are even more than the 36 victims out there, but without any further tips or beaks in any major cases it is unknown if the specuklation is true. Ted was born to Eleanor Louise Cowell and a father that had taken off when Eleanor discovered that she was pregnant. Over the coming months and years, more disappearances followed. Ted's victims were generally young attractive women with dark hair parted in the middle. His modus operandi (M.O) was to approach his potential victim while simulating he had an injury or disability. (For example, by wearing an arm-sling or a cast) ask them to help him carry his books or packages. He led them to a secluded area and when they were alone he would knock them on the head with a crowbar, stuff their bodies into his car, strangle them while they were unconscious and then rape their deceased bodies. He would then leave the naked deceased body in a wooded area, mostly Taylor Mountain in Washington State, where many of his victims were found. Along with countless other suspects he was questioned by the police but he initially came out clean because he just didn't seem to 'fit the mold' of a maniacal serial killer. Bundy then went to law school at Salt Lake City, Utah where he murdered a police chief's daughter on October 21, 1974. Another murder followed, and another young woman went missing in Bountiful, Utah. In January 12, 1975, killings eerily similar to the Utah murders began popping up in …show more content…

Bundy captured the attention of the American people because of his charisma and flair during his escapes from police custody and during his criminal trials for murder. Theodore Bundy is thought to have killed over 20 women and eventually confessed to numerous of those murders prior to his execution in 1989.
But after rumors of Bundy being a thief circulated, he sank into a deep depression. He later completed a semester at Temple University then returned to Washington in fall of 1969. As if by the flip of a switch, Ted became very confident and outgoing to the point of being called an “extroverted braggart”, and earned his Bachelor’s degree in psychology in 1972. After he had finished school, Bundy decided to return to the political scene and worked on the re-election committee of Washington’s republican governor, Dan Evans. Once he was elected, Evans gave Ted a seat on the Seattle Crime Prevention Advisory Commitee.
The first was the abduction of Janice Ott and Denise Naslund. They were abducted at Lake Sammamish in Utah. This led to multiple other women disappearing in the state of Utah, which were all abducted by Bundy. Most of these victims' remains were discovered in nearby mountains. On November eighth Bundy had posed as a police officer outside of a mall in an attempt to lure in his next victim.
So during the time he was in Washington, he went to school at Woodrow Wilson High School in Tacoma, where he graduated in 1965 (Gainsburg). Through his adolescent years, Bundy kept to himself and did not talk to others much. He also showed signs of sadistic behavior or viscousness toward others. These signs occurred when Bundy started watching porn, and he would lurk around women or watch them extremely carefully, and he would even spy through people's windows (SC5). All of this led to a substantial juvenile record, but it was erased once he turned
Theodore Robert Bundy was an American serial killer who raped, killed and kidnapped many women in the 1970’s. He was born on November 24th, 1946 in Burlington, Vermont. He grew up with an older sister who was actually his biological mother and his parents were in fact his grandparents. Ted went through quite a bit when he came to find out the truth about this sister-mom and parent-grandparent situation. Theodore went on to attend college at the University of Washington where he met and fell in love with the woman of his dreams, Stephanie Brooks.
Ted Bundy was a terrible person whether he had a good childhood or relationship with his stepfather or not. Regardless of past experiences, it is a person’s own decisions that make them who they are. People are cruel and make choices that only suit their wants. Ted Bundy wanted to feel power and control over people, and he did so by strangling multiple women until the life drained from their eyes. “You feel the last bit of breath leaving their body.
Ted Bundy Theodore (Ted) Bundy was originally Theodore Cowell, born on November 24, 1946 in Burlington, Vermont in a special home for Unwed Mothers. Louise Cowell, which was Ted’s mother, a little after a month, left the home and returned to her parent’s house. Louise went to Philadelphia where she could raise her son, while Ted grew to think his grandparents were his parents and his mother was his sibling. Later on, Ted and his mother Louise moved to Washington where Louise married Johnnie Bundy, a military cook. Although he never knew his father he was always well mannered, and because of his unhinged childhood, Ted Bundy was known as a serial killer.
Theodore "Ted" Bundy began life as his mother 's clandestine shame. Eleanor Cowell was twenty-two years old and single when she had her first son Theodore, which outraged her deeply spiritual and devout parents. She gave birth to Ted Bundy at a home for single mothers in Vermont and then later brought her son to reside with her parents in Philadelphia ("More Than Horror, Serial Killer, biography, books, dvd," n.d.). To cover the fact that he was a bastard, Bundy was raised as the assumed son of his grandparents and was told that his mother was his sister. Eleanor relocated with Ted to Tacoma, Washington, a couple of years later.
Ted’s violent side was thought to be inherited from his grandfather who had allegedly raped and abused Ted’s mother. This lead many to believe that Ted’s grandfather was actually his father. Ted in his early life also believed this, therefore he became a role model for Ted which shows why Ted would eventually carry this violent side in his life. Ted’s biological father was never known. This meant that she dated a string of men and one of these men became her husband and was a major influence on Ted and he lead him to change his name to Ted Bundy.
Bundy appears to meet several of the criteria required to be diagnosed with Antisocial Personality Disorder. The DSM- IV defines antisocial personality disorder as the pervasive, inflexible, and enduring pattern of disregarding and violating the rights of others (APA, 2013). In order to be diagnosed with antisocial personality disorder, the individual must have at least three of the criteria listed in the DSM-IV. Bundy indicated to fit eight out of the possible ten criteria to be diagnosed which will discussed in the following paragraphs of the paper. Bundy’s actions falls under the definition of antisocial personality disorder due to the fact he had a complete disregard towards the rights of
Female college students and girls between the ages of fifteen and nineteen years old began disappearing at the rate of about one per month. On March 12, Donna Gail Manson, a nineteen-year-old student at the Evergreen State College in Olympia, left her dormitory for a jazz concert on campus but never arrived. On April 17, Susan Elaine Rancourt disappeared while on her way to a movie. These are just two of Ted’s victims, before his arrest on February 12, 1978, he admitted to at least 36 murders, but many speculate that he killed many more. As stated in (The Spokesman-Review, article “The Bundy Case”).
