Throughout history, mankind has been faced with one inevitability, and even though we have tried our best, death cannot be escaped. “The Masque of the Red Death” by Edgar Allan Poe is a short story that conveys the message; you cannot escape death. This story is about a prince named Prospero, who foolishly thinks he can escape the plague. This story gives the reader many messages. The main message this story gives is, not only is death inescapable but it doesn’t discriminate. You may be some famous artist, a president, even The Pope.
