Thomas Hobbes came up with the idea of “unalienable rights” in our Declaration of Independence as well as the protection by the government on people “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.” Hobbes described that the government’s job is do its job and protect its citizens. If the government is not doing its job then the people have to the right to overthrow the government and form a new one.
