Should Smoking Be Illegal? In the United States alone 15 billion cigarettes are sold daily and 10 million of those cigarettes are sold every 10 minutes. The act of smoking is extremely dumb because it can give you anything like heart disease and lung disease. Smoking causes 480,000 people to die each year and 41,000 of those deaths come from the U.S. This is why the dumb act of smoking should be illegal in the U.S. and around the world. Though some people may say if you were to make smoking illegal people would still find a way to get there hands on it, but there will be a consunsince for those people. According to the article “what's in a cigarette?” it states, “ When a cigarette burns it releases a dangerous cocktail of over 5,000 different chemicals. Many of these chemicals are poisonous and more than 70 may cause cancer.” This makes me believe that The chemicals and other things inside of a cigarette are extremely bad and we should not be consuming them. In addition, with all these chemicals entering our body they can do extremely bad things too our body. “Smoking causes more than 4 in 5 cases of lung cancer. Lung cancer survival is one of the lowest of all cancers….,” states the article “what's in a cigarette?”. Thousands of people are dying everyday and the biggest way to stop lung cancer from smoking is to quit. Quitting is not an easy process but it has helped many people around the world save their lives. Even though the lungs will not here automatically from the damage you've done who's smoking they will eventually improve over time. Cancers and heart disease are just a few things you can get from smoking and that is why it is so harmful to the smoker as well as the people around
