There is a difference between many people's lives, including mine. The book The Outsiders definitely focuses on aspects of the theology of glory. S.E. Hinton tried to come up with what the kids' lives were like in the book, but they are not the cross. In my life, I would like to believe that I live as a theologian of the cross. The Outsiders is about a group of boys named Ponyboy, Dallas, Steve, Darry, Sodapop, Johnny, and Two-bit, who are called the Greasers, and the Socs, who live on the other side of town. The two groups are fighting over nothing. The whole story has a dark theme, of fires and fighting and making havoc in life. It's a good representation of what life is like, for people that don’t believe in God, in the way that people can easily get sidetracked by the worst things. What it means to be a theologian of the cross is to live your life and act the way that God plans us to live. In a sense, that means that you try not to do the wrong things. As they say in Psalm 22:19, "But you, O Lord, do not be far off; O you, my help, come quickly to my aid!" This is a very good example of faith that should be possessed in a time of great need. It means that if we trust that God will be there for us and be able to lean on him in hard times, we might find comfort in it. The greasers and the socs needed something to lean on, but instead of leaning on God, they leaned on their bad choices. Such as drugs and the need to make people think that they had control even when they didn’t. In my life, I’ve had a multitude of hard times, and in those times, I can say that I didn’t lean on God. But in the future, hopefully, I can find the strength to trust that even in the hardest of times, he is
